At a local council street level, my experience is that the Lib dems do a good job of representing their constituents. They're not quite as good at running the Council, but better than the other options. Nationally, they're a totally different creature.

Given the IT system has been found unfit for purpose for lesser schemes, it seems unlikely anything will be up and running before the next election, in which Labour are very likely to be annihilated, and previous attempts have shown digital ID has very little public or political support, even within Labour so at best it'll be consigned to the virtual cupboard under the sink. Starmer must know all of these things, which leaves me wondering of the current push is in the hope it deflects from all the many other scandals.
