Chancellor Rachel Reeves has been honoured – in the worst way possible. Iconic UK high street store Beales is closing one of its last remaining stores, and is holding a “Rachel Reeves Closing Down Sale” on its way out.

Having been a mainstay for 144-years, the Beales name will disappear for good on May 31 after the store in Bournemouth's Dolphin Centre was confirmed for closure. And chief executive Tony Brown laid the blame squarely at the feet of the Labour government in February.

And the store is going out in style, with giant yellow banners featuring a picture of Reeves, with the words: “Rachel Reeves' closing down sale now up to 80% off selection lines – everything must go”.
