It's every ****ing thing they touch. <doh>

    'Fully costed' my arse.

Rachel Reeves is causing consternation among government insiders for so far making “quite a few mistakes,” particularly in the Budget. Defra, for example, has briefed the BBC that it “believes it was not properly consulted” over the Farm Tax and has tried to alter it – only to be stonewalled by Reeves. The department has made pains to stress Steve Reed was told about the tax the night before it was announced…

The multi-year spending review, which sets three years of day-to-day spending and five years of capital spending, has now been delayed from the spring to June. Ministers will scramble for longer to make the case for their departments.

If dishonesty from a decade or more ago is enough to resign for, surely lying and reneging on manifesto promises within months of being in office is worse?

In fairness, I am a grandad of two. But I'm no way as old as ER - he is a fossil. I like ER.

I remember you saying. How's the little one doing?

My advice is simple: be around as much as you possibly can. Don't miss a thing. Always put your hand up for babysitting duties. Be the fun grandad. Take copious amounts of photos and get loads framed and up on your walls. And buy books for them. Lots of books. The sooner they start reading the better. The That's Not My... series is excellent to start with. Enjoy every moment.
