I don't think rounding up children, people with mental health issues and sole carers for vulnerable people is quite the virtue some would like to signal, especially when a chunk of the bill is being met by freezing pensioners.

Inspection finds Met police failing or inadequate in key crime fighting areas.

Crimes such as “indecent images of children, extra-familial child abuse and sexual offences were being investigated by new recruits”.

The force did not give a good enough level of service to victims in 39 of the 191 cases examined. The quality of investigations “for neighbourhood crimes was generally poor, and lines of inquiry weren’t always identified or pursued”.

This report is shocking but I’m not surprised.

Just had three crumpets with butter and Tiptree jam.

I'll have one more coffee, then it's time for the weekly shop (boring!).

What are you guys up to today?

In the first 6 months of 2024 British economy has been fastest in the G7.

The worst ‘economic inheritance’ my arse. <laugh>

nearly 80% of the Met Office’s 380 U.K. temperature measuring stations had internationally recognised ‘uncertainties’ between 2-5°C. Specifically, almost one in three (29.2%) in ‘junk’ Class 5 had ‘uncertainties’ up to 5°C as defined by the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO). Nearly half (48.7%) were sited at ‘near junk’ Class 4 sites with ‘uncertainties’ of 2°C. Shockingly, only 52 stations, or just 13.7% of the total, came without any ‘uncertainty’ rating. Class 5 station are prone to pick up all manner of human and natural caused heat corruptions, while class 1 sites simply measure the surrounding air temperature.

Ignore the facts, attack the people pointing at them. <laugh>

Has Jess Phillips still got a government job? She was given some minor ministerial role at the Home Office over the phone by Sue Gray. Now she has demonstrated that the government supports Two Tier Keir when it comes to policing.

While the Prime Minister and the Home Secretary are openly calling for long prison sentences for the far Right rioters, a minority that went on the rampage fighting with riot police, Ms Phillips was cheering on Muslims who took to the streets with weapons to ‘defend’ their communities while the police stood idly by as they had reached an agreement with community leaders. Ironic that her job at the Home Office is safeguarding women and girls.

If a minor minister in Rishi Sunak’s government had been advocating members of the ‘community’ to take the law into their own hands while the police turn a blind eye, the leader of the Opposition (some lawyer bloke) would surely have been demanding their head on a spike.

There's something about 3 word phrases that really resonates with the intellectually-challenged crazed righties/apolitical lot.

    Explains a lot tbh.

Another monsoon here yet again but hopefully it appears to be abating somewhat.

Precipitation has been this years most used climatic terminology of reference.
