If you live in Brent then you are probably one of the cretins that votes for Labour MPs like Dawn Butler and Barry Gardiner. It is, however, home to one of the most improved State schools in the country. It is run by a proper fire-and-brimstone lady called Katharine Birbalsingh, who is being taken to court by a ‘Muslim pupil’ because her secular institution does not allow them to grovel to their nonexistent deities several times a day. That policy applies to all religions. It surely cannot be racism as she is not white and her grandmother was a Muslim. In a statement in defence of her standards, she states: “Multiculturalism can only succeed when we understand that every group must make sacrifices for the sake of the whole.” This is fundamentally untrue. The culture of this country was honed over centuries and those living here need to make the sacrifice of giving up those activities that do not comply with accepted norms. If Muslims, Hindu, Christians, Jehovah’s Witnesses, whatever, do not want their children educated to a high standard to set them up for a successful future then they should send them to another school, of which I doubt there are many successful ones in loony Left Brent. Clearly Ms Birbalsingh’s education model should be adopted more widely.
I'm perusing some fisherman's pie recipes for tomorrow. Rick Stein has a good one but he uses half a pint of double cream & cloves . I don't have cloves & it's a bit heavy with the cream . I'll just use blue top milk.
Rick Stein is a cock, but I do love a good fish pie. I'm not a fan of cloves though. You always find that Worcester Sauces other than Lea & Perrins are too heavy on the cloves, and it's what distinguishes them. L&P get the balance just right.
I thought Cloves are those little things you prick into ham , I had no reason to believe they are soaked in Worcester sauce . How embarrassing
They are, but they're a big part of most Worcester sauce recipes. I've tried a few different ones and the prominent flavour is usually clove. Lea & Perrins get more of a balanced flavour, but distinct as well
