No one commutes in by car. There’s nowhere to park for a start, but there is an excellent public transport system.

Since ULEZ expanded out to the north and south circular roads in 2019, I think we can safely assume that your army of suburban window cleaners already have ULEZ compliant vehicles. Either that or they’ve been paying the charge for four years without complaints.

That’s pretty much what happens Diego. Try getting a train into and out of town at rush hour and they are full of tradesman doing just that.

Exactly this. I have tradesman mates who work in London and never drive. Pretty much all of them have ULEZ compliant vehicles but won’t pay the £30 a day required for parking.

When you talk to them it’s the 20mph that they hate!

What I don't understand is why since the pandemic gave us the idea these people don't just work from home. My painter has been doing this for two years and his house is now like the Cistine ****ing Chapel.

I have family and friends that often work in London on contracts for major chains, and they add the costs to the bid, which means the Londoners that think they're not being charged end up paying for it when they buy the products from those shops and service providers.

They are far from unique in that. Anyone trying to defend it, really hasn't grasped the limited effectiveness of the scheme.

Wouldn’t it be simpler for your imaginary friends travelling down from Hull to London on a regular basis, to simply replace their antiquated diesel ****boxes with serviceable vehicles?

The fact you think they're imaginary says far more about you than it does about me, and your expectation that they change their vehicle demonstrates your lack of knowledge and understanding of the issue. HTH, but I doubt it will.

You also don't seem to have grasped the ineffectiveness of the scheme compared to the alternatives.

You seem to be advocating that they travel on the tube, which is far more heavily polluted. Quite an odd position given it's supposed to be about health.

It's quite clear that the extreme left are once again trying (and failing) to defend a scheme simply because it's someone that they think is from a similar ideology to them, rather than because they actually understand the issues.

It must be quite a dilemma trying to square the circle, or ignore the reality that another one of their own (Burnham) rejected a similar scheme for Manchester.

That's one of the problems in basing your opinion on the colour of a rosette (or someone's skin), rather than taking an open minded view of the issues. <laugh>

The ULEZ mission creep isn't to get those last few dirty petrol cars off the streets then take the cameras down.
It's the first step to carbon credits & when you use up your allowed amount of trips in your car or miles driven you pay a carbon penalty.

The ******s that think Sadam Kahn is some sort of Eco Guru will no doubt back the next stages of their 15 minute city hellscape.

Flights abroad will be for rich or people that don't have cars or eat meat .

The illusion of choice will be extremely costly.

It's okay, they can get a loan to buy a shiny new van, and sell their old one to someone outside the zone. The fact that adds an additional emitter to the carbon footprint of the Country doesn't seem to count because it's protected due to being implemented by someone with a red rosette. <laugh>

The thick bastards are too blinkered to realise what this is actually costing them.

It's a good job thet Londoners don't eat food grown outside of London because those solar powered lorries that the farmers will need to buy will probably make their dinner more expensive

They wear big coats, fill their pockets and come in on the pollution filled tubes. The experts on here have seen it with their own ears. :emoticon-0105-wink:

Surely they won't fall for another one.

For the Marxist left, the GND is an object of considerable interest, both politically and academically. Many of the popular left-leaning and socialist publications in the US, including Jacobin and Current Affairs, have published extensive analyses of the GND for a wider audience. As more Americans realize the need for a decisive break with capitalism
