As long as Adam Scott doesn't win it, hate that long putter! He got a free drop earlier and used that as his club for 2 club lengths! It's pretty much cheating
I think Scotty will go down the route of how Kuchar putts now. Holding the putter to the inside of his front arm for support. He obviously dosnt trust his 'normal' putting stance, but as cityhull says, you wont be seeing him use it at all next year...

They are banning the long putters from next season, and that's the putter Scot uses. Though this season they are perfectly legal to use. So Scott is doing nothing other players aren't allowed to do. So Scott is doing nothing wrong
I don't see much advantage in using a long putter in high winds given the light grip most users have and the size of the tool to control. Re relief..Is it significantly longer than a driver to create an advantage?..I doubt it in 999/1000 cases. Does anyone posting on here actually play golf aside from sticking an old rubber centred penfold commando through a clowns mouth at the seaside?!
The long putter gives more control as you can use your body, therefore under pressure you are less likely to have the shakes I play in the loosest sense of the word, more like hack my way round a course on a weekly basis
You are getting the long putter and the belly putter confused. The long putter you don't use your body to anchor the club, like you do with the belly putter. Admittedly though you do arguably have more control. The long putter was designed for people with lower back pain, because you don't have to bend over as much like you do with a conventional putter. A lot of older golfers use the long putter for this reason

The whole uproar surrounding these different putters only came about because a lot of Golfers started doing well with them, the likes of Adam Scott, Snedeker and Keegan Bradley among others. Most of them have already stopped using them, just to get used to the conventional ones again. Keegan Bradley's game has gone to pieces since he's started using the conventional one, and Snedeker isn't the force he was a couple years back, so I'd imagine Scott might struggle to. I used to play Golf weekly, got down to 9 handicap, but a back injury has stopped me playing for about a year now
I play. 12 handicapper so tidy without being brilliant. Always had the goal of getting down to single figures but alas I think that will elude me.
I just went for a game of par three with the old man.First game in years so it was a mixed bag of shots, my chipping was brutal but putting was pretty solid! Never got into golf though.Only sport I play is football bout 3/4 times a week, mainly indoor & astroturf.
You'll get to single figures Stick if you play more. They say to maintain your handicap you need to play once a week, but to improve it you need to play 2 or 3 times. It just depends if you have the time to play more regularly though
If they cannot play golf when it is raining and they cannot play golf when it is windy, why on earth do they schedule golf tournaments in Scotland, a country known for weather dominated by both? They should use fluorescent balls, the players can wear miners’ helmets and then they can play all night since they are not starting until 6pm. What a load of pansies.
It's not a case of being pansies or not, it's a case of the balls being blown around on the greens. If the balls won't sit still once it lands then it's impossible to play. They do still play in the wind normally, but when the wind is extreme they can't play. As far as the rain, they do play in it to normally, but when it's so much that the whole course is waterlogged, then how can you expect them to play? This sort of extreme wind and rain is rare even for Scotland this time of year, it is still summer time, so most other Open championships don't have this problem. Talking of a pansies sport, you watch Cricket, and even a slight drop of rain and there off up into the pavilion for Tea and Scons
Farcical by the R & A sending them out this morning (cost some of the leaders shots they'd otherwise not have dropped) then not playing early afternoon when the winds had reportedly dipped? Why they didn't use 2 tees to start off yesterday (and therefore ensured the second round was complete) was idiotic beyond belief... Best of all the spectators who'll have paid £80 for the privilege of getting about 3 hours viewing as opposed to the normal 12 hours, get a refund of 40%... So 60% of the ticket price gets you 25% of the event, with a void of nearly 11 hours where you've nothing to do other than spend your money in their bars all day! Poor showing all round really.
I know two lads from where I'm from who won a competition to fly over and watch the weekends action, everything included and £500 spending money. They were due back tomorrow night but i'm not sure if they will be able to stay and see the Monday too. Was a good prize, they get vip access into the players lounge and stuff too which is good as they're keen golfers also.
