And they were stunned to find that he’d added pockets to his trousers so he could secretly carry them underneath. Alcohol is banned in Saudi Arabia, and anyone caught trying to break the law faces tough penalties. The man is now facing jail time for allegedly trying to smuggle the drink in, it’s reported. It’s not clear exactly what kind of alcohol he was carrying. But Saudi customs chief Daifallah Al Otaibi said examples of men attempting to smuggle alcohol into the country were rare. And he said that, even when caught, it rarely involved such large amounts. Bahrain is often branded the “brothel of the Gulf” and has comparatively lax laws with regards to alcohol. He was walking suspiciously. I bet he was.
Good try but the poor bugger will get a few lashes for that. I remember one night where I worked, 2 young Arab teenagers were brought in drunk for blood testing. There was a quick run around to try and get 2 members of staff to give blood samples so that these kids wouldn't get lashed (literally!). A few of the lads on nightshift weren't in fit states themselves to help out! One of the samples had to come from a woman!
That`s a hell of a risk. Must have thought he was going to make a few quid. Unless he`d already drunk half his `stock`. What a mug.
If you'd seen the old battleaxe you'd know that would never have been a problem The joke of it was trying to find 2 blokes on duty in a hospital, with no alcohol in their system!!
