If someone calls you on a landline, they control the call... if they dont hang up you are still connected. Never had some **** phone you and not hang up, you try calling out later and you can hear the **** watching TV etc
Ponders is correct. In POTS the caller creates the connection and it remains active until the caller terminates it. Obviously, mobile phone connections can be terminated by either party.

A friend of mine let a guy go through the whole spiel of selling her an extension with all the options then when he asked for her address it started with "Flat 2B".
There was a guy who set up a premium rate telephone number and gave this out as his "personal" number to utility companies and whenever he signed up for CC cards etc
Of course Ponders is correct, how the **** do you think you could take a call in one room and then if it was for somebody else, put the phone down and get the person for who the call was for to pick up the other phone in another room or upstairs?! Thick ****s.
