If it's any consolation a large number of servicemen die each year on training exercises, mostly in traffic accidents. They are seldom reported, neither are the "Near things". My regiment shelled the Ghurkas one time and only missed them by about 50yards otherwise we would have still been mopping up the blood. I was once told that the expected fatality rate on any major exercise of 3 weeks or more was about 11 dead. Sounds about right.
The thing is though IG when a soldier gets killed in say Afghanistan 9 out of 10 times they make out it wasnt the enemy for some reason making the army look incompetent and killing their own is seen as being better than saying he was killed by the enemy If a helicopter or plane is hit, its engine failure
Yes it is. I was on a Med Man when a KRH Challenger 2 blue on blued on a 1 RHA FOO's Warrior. Vapourised the poor buggers.
