Quite sensational stuff from young Emma Raducanu here 1-3 down first set in her very first ever quarter final of a grand slam against the Olympic Champion and roars back to win the set 6-3 .. absolutely brilliant stuff
Not sure if anyone has posted about Emma Raducanu, the 18 yr old in the us open This girl is the real deal, just got through to the semi, hasn’t dropped a set and playing some wonderful tennis. Get you money on her for young sports personality of the year, I’m going with £50 Guaranteed bet !!!!! Just seen she was discussed in the Wimbledon thread but this young lady deserves her own thread….
So... - First qualifier ever to reach the US Open. - 3rd 100+ ranked player to reach Semi ever. Previous 2 were Kim Clijsters and BJK. That's decent company to be in. - Provisionally World Ranked 51 - New British Number 1 To quote the great Wallace Shawn; Inconceivable.
There's a rather crude joke springing up and stabbing me in the eye here TC, but I'm not going to be the utter cad who posts it. No Finbar Saunders, me.
Wow. Fantastic. She played the big points incredibly well for a young un. Her opponent was poor for an ex World No. 4 and recently won the gold. Whether that was nerves or just blown away Raducanu's power. One of the great things watching her was just how much she was enjoying it. Hope she continues to greatness, but with that comes pressure. It's sad that she'll probably never enjoy playing as much as she clearly is now.
Think it was 4th youngest to reach US Open semis, behind Shriver, Evert, Williams, Sharapova. 4th British woman to reach the semis. Incredible.
Spot on. She started the match exactly the same as in the previous match and went 2 nil down. Her odds went out to 2.36 and time to have a trade. I never cashed out and Emma won me £128.20 after commission. She is a joy to watch. Long may we see her continue her winning ways and enjoy herself in the process. Keep smiling cause you light up the court.
Great performance and wonderful achievement. Born in Canada to a Romanian father and Chinese mother, but came to UK when 2 YO, so credit to her for progressing through the UK system and achieving what she has.
