SOMEWHERE I have a winter snow report that goes back over 30 years covers late 60's think was 1967/8 to 2000 when recordings stopped . It showed depth of snow days it actually snowed max and min daytime temps possibly night as well we would get back then double figure days when more than 1/2" snow fell often over the winter was about 9" plus if memory serves ....I know in the winter it was always get the home made tobogans out ...often made from round branch 1 1/2" " nailed to 3x2" or just a bit of 4x2" front cut at angle ... with boards nailed across ... no screws varied in length from about 3-4' after mornings sledging it was usually sledding on a muddy down hill track [ thanks to google earth able to meaure the place a couple years ago and it was about 170m long and dropped 150 foot [ start was very steep ] woolen gloves knitted by gran OK till got wet ...

never actually used one of those [ back in the 50's ] as a sled but flattened out and nailed to the front did a good job of riding over the snow ...........

pond where I lived was always frozen over .. used to get attacked by the local swans a pair used to have a 6 or more eggs but never any cygnets I can only assume when 1 died someone got another pair as years later late 60's there was still 2 on the pond ........

I delivered there before and after 2000! and you have to go round the back where public do not go... kitchens ...access into various suites for conferences, like the top posh london hotels if you saw the state of it you wouldnt eat there especially one top london hotel that has the back [kitchens ] not far from the thames embankment was disgusting .....

Yes, the Manor House was The Lydia Beynon. Terry Mathews was born there so he bought it and turned it into a hotel. Think he owns Mittel as well.

it used to have some pretty important functions that were regularly advertised, remember 1 delivery there when security was so tight I had a escort in the cab! and signing for the goods took 20 mins as they were inspected [ opened ] ...... also seemed to host a lot of golf tournaments!
