looking like bristol rugby will be leaving the mem end of this season and moving in with city down at the gate.... http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/story-17014068-detail/story.html?

hope this is true as the mem pitch will be much better while we remain at the mem. yes we will lose money from the rent etc that rugby would be paying us but that shouldnt hit us IF we get our new stadium. bristol were 1st choice to move to uwe with us but higgs has stated if bristol didnt follow us to uwe then there are other options that are available who would take their place. strong rumour going around that bath rugby would move in with us at uwe instead.

the locals near uwe will be happy for now thinking it will be just rovers and no rugby now meaning less traffic which was 1 of their concerns.

if city continue to go for ashton vale stadium then the locals near them will not be happy as that will give them something else to moan about having extra these extra games meanimg more increased traffic.

what do you think?

Mixed feelings. It's obvious that the new company is going to market City and Rugby together,
which might well interest potential advertisers etc. One team promoting the two clubs makes
economic sense, and we must ensure that we are not 'sidelined'
You're right though that the Long Ashton residents won't be best pleased, and it will be interesting
to see if they argue that this changes the nature of the original applications.
Good news for our pitch too!

It's bloody marvellous news for our pitch!

I'm sure I read somewhere that the egg chasers pay us £100k per annum rent? Although it's a lot of money, in the big scheme of things, the loss of £100k won't have a significant impact in our revenues which will rise substantially once the new stadium is built.

I'm quite happy with this.

Looking on the bright side, the UWE connection could bring in far more than the Bristol Rugby return. UWE are about to become one of the major players on the University sport scene. They will see their access to the biggest and most prestigious sport stadium in the country as a huge earning asset. They already have the largest campus in the UK.

I should also point out that since Mr Lansdowne's investment. Bristol Rugby topped the Championship last year and then failed to gain promotion to the Premiership. Didn't even reach the Final of the playoffs. This year they are already starting to struggle. They have lost their last two matches, most recently at home to Moseley which is about as bad as you can get!

Fair play to Lansdown for investing in them, but I doubt they'll see Premiership rugby down Trashton for quite a few years yet. And the payoff is an increasingly ruined pitch <laugh>

Which comes first BCFC or Bristol Rugby Club? I cant help thinking the rugby club is seen as a great asset for BCFC
so long as everything works in the grand scheme of things, if not will Mr L stay loyal to the rugby? If I were a
Bristol rugby fan I would be worried by all this. A proud club being manipulated by a football man for the football
clubs benefit. I can't believe its anything other than that.
