Yes we did, with the goings on this year with dates etc I forgot that was in this last window so thanks for reminding me, I should have said concrete decent offer as the LA galaxy one was pretty low.
I assume the W and L indications are from a Bristol Rovers viewpoint - I particularly remember the January 1965 home game as Bunkers Hill almost emptied during a torrential downpour. Two of us had cycled to the match and had those heavy oilskin capes that were in common use in those days so we popped them on and stayed put and remained comfortably dry throughout. Apparently this was the game where Harold Needler looked over at Bunkers and, on noticing what he described as "two bedraggled figures", decided that he should build a state of the art (cantilever) stand. Could we have been early influencers? I like to think so.
So called Gasheads, due to the gas container overlooking the old Eastville ground, hence the smell often gave players dizzy spells. I went to the 'new' ground when we scored very early through BBB, but lost 2-1 to a Bristol team containing a City player loaned to them. Only City would allow one of its own players to play against his parent club. I do still wonder who runs this club at times!!!!!!! One Mike Barry, formerly of Langtoft Grove, North Hull, made about 50 appearances for Bristol Rovers. We often had a kick about on Etton Grove green, back in the day,
Endike local. We are talking a few years ago. I think he went to Hall Road, then Welton. Mike will be about 67 I'd guess. ex City boys.
Or we'll lose badly and 'some' will say we were just unlucky and promotion is very much a formality...
That sounds like the match when the lad whose funeral I went to hopped over the little fence in the Well, grabbed the trainer's bucket of water and soaked a few of them.
Worked for a company in Bristol. Know some Bristol Rovers fans. Nice place Bristol. Can’t see us getting anything out of it.
My next-door neighbour is from Bristol. In 2008 he made the mistake of putting a sign in his window saying "Come on Bristol". When I got back from Wembley, he didn't want to talk about it
Ha ha there were very few Bristol City fans where I worked. Most were from outside of Bristol, the home grown employees all seemed to follow Rovers. I got numerous congratulations after we beat City in play off final
