Mayor of Bristol Marvin Rees said: “I am disappointed that the other WECA leaders have made a statement, along with North Somerset, publicly airing the internal differences and ongoing debate within the West of England Combined Authority. This was an ongoing internal debate and should have remained so.
Who ever put that together with a veto vote! the other 2 should withdraw, it all seems to be falling apart because that is apparently not the only thing he is disrupting he is power crazy has been since the first month or so when he sacked everyone that did not agree with him … look at what it has cost us we do not need a mayor

How are you feeling now? Any signs of the 'long Covid' that people talk about? Glad you're recovered :emoticon-0148-yes:

I did not vote for the mayor last time round, not in Bristol at the time, or for the first one either but could have. Will vote next year. I do not think these mayors are worth the expense, both in their salaries and encumbent tourages or the cost to the communities they oversee. Having worked away from Bristol since UNI, coming "home" has been a nightmare traffic wise. I wonder how much has been wasted over 2 periods of mayoral activity in road and traffic costs. Both Ken Livingstone and Boris Johnson did wonders for London, so much so that the latest, Sadiq Khan has been left little to improve and is making a fist of it!
Bristol needs a mayor, should we be lumbered with having to have one, that is a neutral minded person but with a clear plan for the future to embrace all. Not singularly minded, whether for self gain or gratification or specific area. Who ever it may be , should not take apart what the previous encumbent/s have thrust upon us but embrace to a large degree and improve or complete it.
10 years ago I believe Bristol was a friendlier, tidier and easier place to navigate, since coming back to live here I have been disapointed. And the council tax is criminal, whilst not in the top 10 is pretty close, how much less would it be should we not have a mayor?
