It’s our final ball that lets us down. So many times we have possession in great places, but poor crossing, or passes behind players spoil it. No wonder we are amongst the lowest scorers in the league this season. This is where Liam has to improve the team.

Cornick's lack of control has cost us a probable goal - and not for the first time, and that's where we miss the necessary skills in front of the keeper. We miss a high percentage of one on one chances because our short passes and controls are very weak. I have never seen what Cornick offers and I'm have the same opinion of Mehmeti as well. Overall our total lack of goal prowess will cost us dearly but hopefully we can hold on for the three points.

We so desperately needed those 3 points even if we got away with murder out there today against a usually good Sunderland team. I have a major concern about our lack of scoring fire power but the penalty after some poor defensive decisions by Sunderland did the trick. The transfer window has to be a way for us to strengthen but bringing in more players that are no better than some of the under-performers we already have would be a huge insult to the supporters. I can think of around 5 players that need to be replaced if we truly believe that we can achieve better results and if we can add to the mix I think some of the other players may benefit by not having to cover the weaker points that are so evident.

A couple of months ago, we’d have lost this. Under the cosh all the second half, but coped with it and stood up to it well!!

    People well that was unexpected.
    Max MOM
city defended well against a very good Sunderland team.
    Actually enjoyed watching it.
First half we were more threatening going forward which is a good sign.
Second half was like being at the battle of the Alamo.
Certainly more improvement required but I never expected that win today.
Hull hammered Cardiff 3-0 today another tough game on Friday night.

Mehmeti hit the post in the first half but the bounce back didn't go our way and Gardner-Hickman had a brilliant shot well saved by their keeper. All in all it was a great 3 points even with some ugly defending at times but thankfully Sunderland weren't on their A game today other than the latter stages where they pummeled us relentlessly and we survived. Well done Max but you have to stop farting around with short passes just outside the box as it puts more pressure on the back line. :emoticon-0100-smile

Absolutely, or conversely losing one can dampen it.

Well done to the lads today and Max who I’ve been critical of. I hope this gives them the confidence to go up a gear. Doesn’t look like it was a pretty performance and a penalty goal doesn’t fill me with enthusiasm, but very happy with a clean sheet. I’m a firm believer of building on the back of clean sheets, especially at home.

Still not expecting much this season, but I’ll be happy with 1 win in 3 with a draw thrown in here and there to keep us out of a relegation fight. Which would leave us with about 55-60 points. Which is on par with previous seasons.
