oh dear chaps been outside busy all day ..... SORRY .... switched on 1-1 55 mins went to forum and post was "that was dreadful defending" flicked back and 1 -2 ... see King in the line up .... hope we sell him on in the Jan window or at least pay him to leave!
I’ve been a firm defender of NP ever since his appointment, but I’m on the verge of saying he needs to be replaced now. Points wise we’re one defeat away from being second bottom We have a distinguished ex defender as our Manager but our defending as a team under him never seems to improve and it’s utterly shambolic at times
I agree, I applauded his appointment and really thought he would make us better, but he hasn’t, we are far worse performance, points and position in the league wise. He’s lucky SL is a very patient chairman, almost any other club in this league this season he’d possibly be gone already.
Don’t know what it is with Ashton Gate, we don’t half attract some crap Refs.. he’s shocking Oh yes and we’re dreadful..
IMO he would have absolutely been the right man for us a few years ago, but whether he’s lost his edge or his appetite or both we are just not progressing the way we should be, and we can’t defend for toffee either which is a basic And Stoke aren’t the best opposition we’ll face over the next few games I’d like Sean Dyche but don’t imagine he’d want us in a million years
I know I'm jumping the gun here but for me we are worse than we were before messiah Nigel arrived on the scene. Forget the blame game as to which manager did what, and which players they brought in, the fact remains that we are still a lousy team living on the edge of annual relegation in most seasons since we lost the playoff final to Hull. When you look at all the good players who were lucky enough to move on to better things, including some pretty tasty scorers, we still haven't achieved the intended target of promotion to the Premier League. Roaming around in the halls of Ashton Gate is a gremlin that closes all the doors to success, and although some may want to put names and addresses to this clown, the apathy and lack of foresight continues unabated. Leadership is easy if you put the right people in charge and I regret to say we have never been able to find that person despite many poor attempts. Nigel Pearson must shoulder most if not all of the blame for this nonsense and he has been here long enough to know he hasn't met the job mandate. Blaming previous managers doesn't cut it any more as Nigel, despite his supposed man management skills, has failed at every level to make Bristol City better and stronger since his arrival with great fanfare. A sorry state of affairs faces us in the New Year and based on what I have seen this entire season I'm afraid the overall outlook looks very bleak. A good manager makes average players better accompanied by sound tactics and substitutions and I don't see any of those essentials being met. Poor referee today and VAR is needed to counteract the situation but we didn't lose today due to decisions as we were lousy against a poor team. Big decisions need to be made as we are on the wrong path and have lost our way.
Hard to argue with most of that. For me, if SL was going to make the change it should have been before the mini-break.
Once again I like your thoughts angelic but attracting anyone decent seems to be an almost impossible task. Our lousy history will make most proper candidates run for the hills, somewhat akin to Coppell who departed once he really saw what occurs at Ashton Gate. The deed should have been done before the World Cup and now we would struggle to replace Nigel as it will take too much time, based on our past, and the upcoming transfer window will be gone before a new appointment. Ante up some heavy cash to get someone in to sort out the mess that continues despite Nigel constantly stating that all is O.K. and he will make things better, which he hasn't and doesn't look capable of doing to me.
Judging by the boos at full time Lansdown and co should be getting the message loud and clear If they aren’t, I suggest that they look at the league table in a few weeks By which time it may be too late
Being in the bottom 5 at New Year is never a good omen and if we lose at home to West Brom the writing is on the wall unless somebody steps up to be counted. City looked like a bunch of players out for a kick around down at the local park who have never met before. Nigel's involvement is taking us nowhere and the results, which never lie, certainly prove that a change is needed now. Most clubs would have sent him packing some time ago, and certainly now based on yet another home loss by giving away bad goals, but will the hierarchy have the balls to make the right decision after many bad ones? Probably not! The cheap option has never worked before but perhaps Fleming will get the nod based on what you said angelic.
please santa, can we have a new young, ambitious manager for christmas because i think this ones going too pee on my christmas pudding.
We are truly terrible. I had high hopes following the win at Rotherham but crashed back to reality with a huge bump. Blaming the previous regime is piss in the wind by people with a personal axe to grind - excuses without credibility after such a long time has passed. We have to fix the bloody DEFENCE or we will be playing L1 football for the first time since Cotts took us up. Nige is skating on thin ice.
Disappointed, lack-luster performance, 2 weeks to transfer window, hoping we have made some progress on funds since that gut busting deficit he inherited or there is business interest so we have got some wriggle room, either way the guy has to improve urgently or he will be toast.
Nige isn't one for needing funds according many interviews he's given, so not really an excuse.. I still think the players he has should be doing better... Most of our performance wasn't that bad (see stats), but the common issue is our defending.....it's bloody shocking, made worse by the fact that NP should know how to sort it with his background........I have no idea where we go from here.....I know one thing.....we've not progressed from 2020
I've just listened to NP's interview answering about the CH position and Andy King in particular. Apparently it's down to he trusts. No, he's just being bloody stubborn and won't admit he's chosen the wrong player at CH. He doesn't have much choice but he's been here long enough to have strengthened that position. Nevertheless Atkinson, don't know what's happened to him, and Vyner who's ordinary at best but are better CHs than King. Andy King is a square peg in a round hole. If Kalas, ffs let's have a decision on his fitness, isn't coming back soon then a CH is no 1 priority next month.
Of course he made a mistake. Change the formation to fit the players, which would have put a much improved Vyner at CB and either Sykes or Tanner at RB. Every team has injuries so that’s no excuse, it’s how you deal with it that counts, and NP hasn’t done it very well
Sorry don’t agree Football is ruthless and anyone not meeting expectations will suffer the consequences As to the person who you refer to, it’s not just people on here His appointment literally split the support into two camps and that’s the difference Not saying it was right, but that it’s true
It divided people on this forum, yes, but I don’t know any City fans other than this forum that were anti LJ in the way some were/are in here. The fans I know just saw him as a guy doing a good job for a while and didn’t care about his dad being a previous manager and him a player.
