Michael Brown (ex Sheffield Utd) defended the tackle by Norwood on Williams on the ITV EFL Highlights show last night and said 'I know him, and it wasn't intentional'
There may not have been any deliberate malice in it, but a knee high tackle is a straight red card any day of the week !

There was no intent with the Tanner tackle either , it was mistimed, he still got a red-,& rightly so. Norwood’s tackle was awful, and could easily have resulted in a broken leg, irs a straight red, I hope it gets dealt with retrospectively .

A foul is a foul, whether intentional or not. Same as a handball in the box (or anywhere actually) - it's a penalty, regardless of whether or not it was deliberate - some of them are clearly NOT deliberate, but the 'ball-to-hand' rule was abolished a few years ago.
The issue is the lack of consistency of refereeing at this level, plus lack of VAR (love it or loath it) outside the Prem.

In that case, Michael Brown is talking total bollocks! He is attempting to defend the indefensible because they know each other!!

Agree, is he suggesting it’s only a red if you intend to break someone’s leg?. Total nonsense

Is he also saying that Tanner shouldn’t have had a red either, or is he suggesting double standards should apply, because Tanner didn’t deliberately catch their player, it was a mis timed tackle. Both were horrendous tackles, both deserved a red card.

It's the old boys network, and to be fair he was unlikely to say anything else.

Why not? , Nige did about Tanner. All he had to say was he’s not the kind of player to do it deliberately, but it was a horrendous tackle & deserved a red card.
