Three points in the bag but what a valuable win and despite us looking like a fart in a thunder storm we finally got there. The statistics about the points we have given up from winning positions tell the true story about what we are and until we get that all too regular bad trait out of our bag of tricks we have no chance of improving. I got tired of hearing that the referee was the reason for our problems when quite clearly it was, and always is, our lousy play and decision making.
Made hard work of it again against a poor side.. I didn’t think we looked at the races tonight, wasn’t the best game for Weimann imo. Looked like we went back to old tactics which failed us in the past and looked suspect as the game went on.. I see Forest are flying in 6th compared to where they were just a few months ago.. Who said Houghton was a good manager!!
I think playing the youth a lot, we are always going to see spits and spats of good play. I hate to admit it, but if we can fend of the bids for Semenyo and HNM then RR could be right and see us transform into a very good side, with these lot plus one or two replacements. Just be nice to have less injuries to see us through till then.
I was one, still think he was back a bit but I've got to own up I am relieved we didn't appoint him...
I’m glad the Red Button didn’t work for the first half in the end then. I was in my bedroom (genuinely) taking radiators off the wall to wallpaper behind them. I had the TV set up on a swivel bracket with Sky connected (priorities) and hoped to have the game playing in the background whilst I worked.
I was sooo close to watching Endeavour at half time. Folk go on about how difficult the Championship is to play in, honestly at times it's more like non league.
My picture on the red button was fine last night but it can be awful at times. I have had problems with no connection for long periods of a game before as well. My main complaint though is the commentator. Seems to speak just to hear the sound of his own voice constantly describing what we are watching on screen at the time, i.e. stating the bleeding obvious!
Piss poor game refereed by yet another piss poor referee, he was shocking. Klose is a quality footballer, Vyner played well but still managed to make his customary huge mistake which nearly cost us. Pring played well but does run out of fuel on the hour mark. Scott was always in the thick of things and is a handful, good see Williams back he needs game time. Martin was poor throughout. The 2 goals were both well crafted, the first showed patience that when the move broke down in several earlier phases, we kept going and deserved to create the opening, Weimann was terrific in the move to be able to get up off of the ground and have the presence of mind to pick out Semenyo who lost his markers brilliantly leaving him free to score. The 2nd was perfect in every way each pass in the build up was played perfectly and Pring's cross was driven hard and low to the near post, had the defender not put it in Scott was there. We then created a few breakaway half chances but then we were victims of consequences, on a dangerous attack Weimann tried to play an elaborate ball on the edge of their box instead of the simple ball which failed and we were left short handed to a quick breakaway, the 2nd consequence was the referee giving a shocking penalty decision for what look to all intense and purposes a blatant dive. The ODowda substitution was IMHO a poor one, DaSilva should have pulled been over to the left for the tired Pring and Cundy brought on at that stage and not later, I think ODowda was glad to be subbed, he was shocking when he came on and made exactly the same mistake that he made at Blackpool trying to shield the ball out and not being strong enough and having his pocket picked, he is not and never will be a wing back and to be honest although I cannot fault his effort most of the time, he offers nothing when he does get forward. But 3 more points and somehow 3 home league wins on the bounce.
3 more welcome points despite another poor performance. I see the attendance was only 17,700 despite it being a relatively local derby, but I already know of a few more people who won't be renewing their Season Tickets next year, so the club will suffer even more.
I will reserve judgement for now as he's still a bit rusty after not playing much this season, but he was at fault for one of the goals at Blackpool with a really poor clearance, and again last night with a clumsy unnecessary challenge to give away the pen. So, 2 games and 2 goals he has been at fault for. Had that been Vyner, you would have had the lynch mob out...
Two things, firstly you say clumsy challenge I say dive and secondly Vyner has been making mistakes since the very first game of the season in pretty much in every single game he has played, what's his excuse? You don't have to defend him he's not an LJ signing he kept sending him out on loan, another of the unwanted like Pring.
