Not really we had the chances to win it-but so did Preston. Fair result. For me the starting eleven was wrong..
You know who to blame for that, our “proper gaffer” you keep lauding to the rooftops. Maybe one day, you’ll wake up to the fact, he is just an OK manager.
Good luck to your lot tomorrow Sparkey and I hope you do better than us on the opening day over the bridge. To put everything in a nutshell we looked exactly the same as we have done for the last 10 years and expecting it to better is probably wishful thinking at it's best or worse, depending on your point of view I suppose. The real lack of interest in the transfer market will lead us down a path of second guessing as to why we constantly bring in players that can't pass the acid test year after year. The newbies out there today didn't really shine and the rest just put in their time without getting the 3 points which was caused by being unable to meet the pace of Preston when they upped the ante. This a long standing problem and until such time as we bring in real players ,rather than those who have been elsewhere and not really done much, we will spin our wheels. Millwall next weekend is no easy place to visit and we are looking at a possible loss, but even more important is the following league game versus a recharged Birmingham City, and if we should under perform in that one the boo boys will show up in large numbers. Disappointment is my mantra today, but then again I have got used to it because that is the expectation of Bristol City supporters.
Cheers for that Mike, but we're not over the Bridge tomorrow - we're up at the concrete shed they call Elland Road.
One thing I did notice, that we are a really short team. They had height all over the pitch so we was muscled of the ball in midfield all the time.
Not surprised with result which PNE thoroughly deserved. Better with Williams in midfield rather than AW, plus a couple of brilliant defensive headers from corners. They out numbered us in midfield and it showed but tbh was overall disappointed with our game. The plus for me was seeing my grandson on the hallowed turf with his flag waving Chilcompton team mates.
That result might be a blessing in disguise, bring us down to earth a bit.. Now need a confidence builder like 3 pts from Millwall.. no mention of Zak having a good game? Not his fault for their goal and threatened upfront!
A draw was a fair result, but again their goal should have been disallowed for a handball, Pearson said the ref didn’t see it so couldn’t give it. True, but it was in the middle of the penalty area ffs, that’s not really an excuse he SHOULD have seen it. or the Lino should. That said the Lino’s were useless, the one by the Lansdown was blind I think, even the ref overruled him in the first half when he gave the throw to Preston when the ball plainly came off a Preston player, right in front of the Lino.
Wtf ? Isn’t that 2000 more than the stadium holds ? I’m also assuming Preston didn’t sell their whole entitlement ?
We move on Impressive result for Millwall at the ‘Boro today Sounds like we will need to raise our game considerably to play them next
Zak MOM imo, rest of the team looked Half a yard slow, Dickie did ok, looked a bit short of confidence. Thought knight did ok, but didn’t get support. Bell was our only real threat with his pace. Pring was awful, his worst game for a while. Thought even Tommy looked out of sorts when he came on. Lots of improvement needed. It’s the problem playing such lower league opposition in pre season, championship sides don’t allow you the same amount of time, we looked rushed all the time.
