You guys watching the game - are we playing well? have we been lucky? is the ref on our side (for once)? are Plymouth poor? or a combination of all???
Almost went to sleep at the back and they hit the post. Wake up please. Another mistake at the back and only a vital tackle by Zak saved our embarrassment.
Vyner denies Hardie Oh, that is brilliant Zak. Hardie nicked the ball around O'Leary and had an open goal but Vyner's pace ensured he got their first and made a slide tackle to deny the Plymouth striker.
Much better from City, got off to a really good start and pretty much controlled it from there.. First half in particular, we were very good.. Flow not so good 2nd half with so many subs.. Plymouth imo will be amongst the relegation contenders..not great.. Just seen Zak doing another last ditch tackle.. and also Plymouth hitting post..
Just the win we needed to put our ghost to rest and now we must push on and face up to Leicester. Even though I thought some of our distribution was superb and flowing I still believe we can be weak across midfield which then puts the back line under pressure, and often that means mayhem and a probable opposition goal. Zak had a couple of forgettable moments out there but his late tackle in the area to stop a certain goal which was caused by shambolic defending and decision making. Max has to be taken aside and told his distribution skills, particularly with his hands that creates havoc for his defenders, have to be improved in order for him to be a true Championship goalkeeper. Yeboah tends to be a bit over the top in his tackles and needs to calm down and use his ability on the ball to his, and City's, advantage rather than giving away the ball because of rashness.
Ref wasn’t really on our side, few bookings for us when they seemed to get away with a few. They were poor, but we didn’t give them much chance in first 20 or so minutes. They got a goal back and tried to push on but we caught them on the break and their tails down and fans booing them didn’t help them. They do have a good player but for some reason he was a sub. He looked decent.
Great result, first win at the gate and deserved, now we face Leicester, that will be a test, well done tonight Nige and all the team.
Well apart from Jason Knight those starting players on the pitch were here last year. What a turnaround in their play. Clearly Nigel Pearson -Brian Tinnion and the coaching team must take huge credit for that. We sit 5th tonight with our main striker injured- New players are gelling and Tommy to come back also big Rob Atkinson to return. Harry Cornick got his goal tonight so pleased for him big weight of his shoulders. Interesting game probably at the hardest place in the championship at Leicester City Football Club let’s see what we can do.
Great 3 points at home and 4 goals ! Well done Nige and the lads Did Plymouth contribute to their own downfall by making 7 changes though ?
