Let's face the New Year with the cold hard fact that this squad is incapable of making a concerted effort to stay at the top end of the table. Our weaknesses can be seen from the moon and unless we are prepared to splash a little cash to enhance some of the players that we have on the books then we will probably end up in mid table at the end. Ashton Gate, based on footballing statistics, should be the base from which we generate 60% or more of our season ending points but we continue to perform dismally in front of the people that matter most. The late 1-0 loss today was so Bristol City because we have witnessed over the years many defeats coming during the last 10 minutes and yet again we gave away the points in extra time. Watching a long pass back to Max in the 5th minute of extra time when we needed the ball at the other end just about summed up all the bad things confronting us in most of our matches. Will Liam have any say in how this constant annual debacle can be changed or will he sit on the sidelines and be beholden to the Lansdown's control because if that is the case then I might suggest he won't be here long as the frustration of the situation could be too much to bear? Absolute rubbish on display to start the New Year is not a good thing and all of the good work that seemed to have changed things slightly for the better has all gone down the toilet with another late home loss.

P.S. I agree with every post on here today and it's nice to see we are all of the same opinion. :emoticon-0148-yes:

Yep, today showed what I have been saying for a while, our midfield has zero creativity. James and Williams are too similar, and don’t have the ability to find killer passes to unlock opposition defences’ they go square, or back, particularly James. It shows our recruitment over the last 18 months has simply not been good enough.

No Supcon, over the last 18 months we were in a totally hamstrung position.

    Beggars couldn't be choosers.

Some of it was hamstrung RP but we had the Semenyo and more recently Scott income that we MIGHT have invested.
Not blaming Nige - I’m asking questions of the regime at board level .

You're asking questions of the board.
    Supcon is ignoring that.

You’re confusing that with Nige mate, his players, and his tactics are too ingrained in these players. Poor
Liam has inherited too many players that simply aren’t good enough to match our ambitions. At least Njge inherited good, if not expensive players.

The game was crap, don’t see how changing the keeper will improve our fortunes though. A centre forward likewise, we could have Harry Kane up front and we still wouldn’t have scored today.

Brum and Millwall sat in and we weren’t able to get behind them, we spent most of the game passing about between Dickie and Vyner. We aren’t able to break down teams that sit in, today we needed Scott or someone brave enough the take players on and break between the lines. No one did so it was a stalemate. In truth they were the better team the second half and a 1-0 win to them was probably a fair result.

What we saw today wasn't necessarily the fault of this person or another chap but rather something that is deep down in our DNA. How many more years do we have to endure this total garbage because I can remember returning to Ashton Gate on about 4 or 5 times over the last 25 years and every match was exactly like the rubbish on display again today and that means we have never been able to live up to the pre-season promises. Mediocre football lives and breathes in BS3 and our owners seem to love the limelight when there are minor successes such as some tin pot trophy against world beating sides like Wallsall but when it comes down to backing a charge for promotion in co-operation with whoever is leading the squad on the field. All we get, other than the stadium upgrades, is a team full of has-beens or low quality players looking for a retirement home without actually having to put in much effort. Our much vaunted academy is a breeding ground for good player development and just when we start to see them come to fruition we just go out and sell them but don't reinvest the monies generated unless it is on underperforming players that nobody else wants. Come on Lansdown the supporters deserve better than the constant hum of discontent raining down from the bums in the seats and unfortunately you know that but still choose to stand on the sidelines and watch what you have created. It may sound harsh but years of negligence has come back to roost. :headbang:

Birmingham and Millwall sussed us and alas we don't have players with enough ability to change or adapt.
The possession game is great when you have players of Man City quality.
With lesser mortals I'm afraid the possession game is just utterly boring to watch.

It was bad enough for me watching from afar these last 2 games but I genuinely felt sorry for our fans who travel miles in all winds and weather spending hard earned money to watch mind numbing boring football.

Yep, it was mind numbingly boring yesterday, as 90% of our games have been this season tbh, the manger(s) can only work with what they have. Without Scott, we have nobody who can unlock a defence through the middle of the park.
We need to find a creative player, either forward or midfielder in the Jan window from somewhere someone who will at least run at players, and take a shot from outside the box, we desperately lack that right now.

What does concern me is a lack of plan B, it was a criticism from some that NP was a dinosaur who wasn’t tactically aware enough to change things during a game. I thought this new guy was supposed to change all of that, turns out, up to now at
Least, he doesn’t change things at all.
