<doh> It was you that involved Scott into the equation pathetically.
it's just a question of curiosity, no worries if you are unable to answer it...but I think we both know and your point regarding Scott scoring and having an assist and trying to compare his worth is the pathetic comment..

They are different types of players, Scott creates more, Massengo strength is his engine, Scott is more of a flair player Massengo covers more ground, both are still young and occasionally make the wrong decisions and are a bit inexperienced. I don’t know if you watched on Robinstv but there was one ball Scott played that really excited Mickey Bell, he commented that the vision he showed was far beyond his years, personally I hope we can keep most of the youngsters and build a team around them.

ODowda was quiet yesterday, We didn’t really get the ball to him in dangerous positions, he was competent though and disciplined and did his defensive duties well, often with wingers they’re not so keen to do their defensive duties and there will always be games like yesterday so good on him for staying focused on his defensive duties, several years ago he Would have struggled.

That’s a bit harsh, QPR are 5th at present, but for the ref we’d have beaten them, even with 10 men we were by far the better side. Yesterday we deservedly beat Millwall, who for the last god knows how many years have been a bogey team for us. I’m the first to criticise when we are poor, but for balance give credit when it’s due. The last few games we seem to have eventually turned a corner, Refreshingly it also seems to have coincided with playing some of the youngsters which augers well for the future. We are in a period of transition, which coupled with the fact that we are using a lot of youngsters will mean our performances are likely to be a bit inconsistent, but I personally can start to see What Nige is trying to do. It has taken longer than I had hoped, but I don’t think as a fan base we quite realised how bad we were.

The argument was never really about comparing the two players, although it took that path....I think RP made a point regarding Massengo not scoring in all of his appearances, which is probably missing in his game......I just think, that if he did, I'm not sure we would be able to afford to keep hold of him.. Jiffie threw Scott into the equation of what might he be worth because he has scored,,,,I know........ it's stupid :emoticon-0105-wink:

playing the younger element was always a part of the "plan" over the past 5 or 6 years! hence purchase of players under "21"? and academy never really benefitted from U23 groupings, as only played them as individuals occassionally.
"but I don’t think as a fan base we quite realised how bad we were." I dont agree, the opposite in fact, we have had the potential but needs to be put in order, still reckon we are quite a bit away from it, when we win 3 or 4 on the trot, or go 8 without a defeat then we are getting there.....

I don’t remember 7 ex academy players starting for us in any recent regime, nor was I aware we planned to, the odd one or two occasionally, but 7 ? , nah think you are wrong John

I don’t think many managers at this level plan to play 7 under players under 20, Yet NP has made that call to do this and ignore more seasoned professionals. Bleeding youngsters is a good thing, previous regimes did it with Bryan, Reid, Vyner, Semenyo, Kelly, Bakinson etc. Playing 7 youngsters every game is not a strategy that will survive, as we saw yesterday, it didn’t last 45 mins, you have to use them wisely and belend them into a group.

Even in the second half we had 5, I agree 7 was asking a lot, but 5 is still almost half a team and we gave a good showing against Millwall of all teams. The more the youngsters get game time the better.

7! ? .... certainly not when still wet behind the ears, so to speak! You still under the influence? :emoticon-0105-wink: how can I be wrong?

Over past 5 or 6 years LJ/MA/DH ... part of "buy young ..develop...add to academy ...be homegrown sufficient .. sell odd one or 2 when "price is right" .......
1 or 2 at any time got a chance [ a few odd games ] 1 might be in squad for half a dozen or so then "dropped/ farmed out!" Never said 7 at a time, said U23 groupings [ pairing, or 3 + if you like ] . Yesterday we had Scott Benarous & Semenyo "all brought through academy with " the same style of play [ part of the plans in past ] so all players on same sheet encouraged into them" + ...... Pring Towler and OLeary along with Vyner in defence!
It was 7 on the day but could have been 6 or 5 or 4 or ...........
NP, from the start had a plan, a system in his head and needed to revert to his way , and accountants probably knew we were in dire trouble with FFP, [although wage savings were only on players who had time to run, as out of contract were free to leave and effect was for 21/22 season accounts, not 20/21.
James was the only NP newbie and Weimann was the only contract renewal from last seasons squad! on the pitch, with Atkinson on the bench! we had youngsters Dasilva, Conway & HNM on the bench [ 2 bought for the future ].

we will see what comes next! when others are fit ... will BENTLEY be in goal v Fulham? Towler be dropped for Atkinson .. is King 1 game or 2? ....

    Pretty sure you're right.

I think NP made that call because of the dearth of more talented 'seasoned professionals'.
    What's your 'call' ?

What is stupid is saying that if Massengo could score we couldn’t afford him, my point was that as a midfielder you would expect at least a couple of goals in 70+ games but as I pointed out Scott has managed it.

Which IMO would make him an all round player wanted by bigger clubs and we couldn't afford to stop him..had nothing whatsoever to do with Scott whom you brought into the equation ...you do struggle at times!!

Apparently he is wanted by a ‘bigger’ club, but at a loss from what we paid for him.
The struggle is all yours, part of a midfielders job is to provide assists and occasionally score and only one of the 2 we are talking about is achieving that.

Yes and if he could bring scoring into his game he would be worth a shedload more and we wouldn't be able to afford to keep him.<doh>....English subtitles available if required!!
