Just seen the highlights, feel we should have had a pen for the foul on Twine. A good win against a team that was playing PL football last season, and crucially a clean sheet. We build and go again, a win and a draw from our next 2 games, I reckon.

It’s about as clear a pen as you’ll ever see……

Yep, wrong side of the defender, through on goal, definite penalty, terrible decision by the ref. Bottled it. Another apology letter incoming. Refs should have some kind of bonus for getting major decisions correct. As long as there’s no consequence to getting them wrong they’ll continue to happen.

I was surprised at the pretty average attendance for the Luton game
Lots of empty seats behind the goal on the old East End

Lots chose to watch on Sky, the home form hasn’t been particularly good lately.

Officially around 22000 but many of those were probably Season Ticket holders who had family commitments so did t attend.

Will be interesting to see how many season tickets are sold for next season. Varying kick off times, and the ability to watch from the comfort of your living room I’m sure will have an affect. I’d be surprised if the numbers don’t drop.

The Club will lose out financially due to Sky persistently changing kick off times but also the playing style which is not entertaining, Fans want to see exciting goalmouth attacking football not watching our midfield/defenders trying to play keep ball. Every Fan says the same, who is going to score the goals???

I don’t mind the keep ball if we had an end product, it’s better than the long ball tactics we had under the previous manager, as that just invites pressure straight back on us, and was soul destroying to watch.
We need to give LM time to implement his ideas and get the players to suit it, aside from the forward line, we are close to that.
Undoubtedly the availability of games online, and the possible 3pm curfew being lifted will hit season ticket numbers, but every club will be in the same boat.

Like the 2 strikers we’ve just brought in, neither of which fit our playing style. I’m not just blaming Manning, but he signs them off.

I agree, I do think Armstrong will be a better option with a second striker to support him, but I’m struggling to see any future for Mayulu on his recent performances. It’s his lack of game awareness and his lack of speed and work ethic that question why those who scouted him thought he’d be a good purchase.

I do question how much say our managers have in the recruitment process. I remember watching a ‘behind the scenes’ video when Nige was in charge, and he alluded to the fact that there is a team who do all the statistical analysis on players, which identifies who would fit the club, he said he doesn’t have much to do with the recruitment process.
I never felt LJ was making all the calls during his tenure either.

    Absolutely this.
I wonder if the truth will ever come out - about who is really in charge of recruitment.

Our head of technical recruitment is Sean Gillespie, if I've got the right one I'm pretty sure he never played and was a Rover's fan as a boy.

That would explain a lot. The scouting and subsequent purchase of Mayulu looks very flawed. He may come good, but he looks way off the standard required at this level right now.

When you look around at teams we consider to be better than us in the Championship several things come to mind and they are:

    1. Parachute payments.
    2 Successful scouting staff.
    3. Respect as a team that can get it right consistently.

According to a report on BBC Sport we don't have enough money in the pot to go out and get decent players. The only possible redemption is by dumping fringe players such as Cornick or by selling off some of our better players. I reckon that all of our current no-shows should be farmed out for the rest of the season to League One outfits. Let's hope no one goes crazy and starts selling off more crown jewels in the mid-season sales. The first priority is to name and shame the idiot who brought in Mayulu and Armstrong and then show them the door to oblivion. Who is that clown.? :emoticon-0127-lipss
