Worried ? Why ? John Lansdown will say we’ve still got a top 6 budget and will expect the league position to reflect that
So he might, I’m worried about the reality though, not his pipe dream. If our present form continues into next season, we’ll get out of the championship, but it won’t be up, it’ll be down.
Take my blinkers off. Anyway, I'm concerned that some of our fans are getting lost because we're trying to play the Pep way. It's different from what we're used to so we must uphold Manningball. Take your blinkers off guys......system's don't win football matches, quality wins every time.
If BCFC were trying to play the Pep way Max O'leary statistically amongst the best in the division would not be in goal.
Clifton, I'm struggling to think of any of our lot who have the quality to play Pepball. Statistically or otherwise.
Maybe we need another spell in L1 playing the likes of Shrewsbury to inject some reality into what Lansdowns ideas are all about ?
And the rest of the team are?, he’s better at his role than most of the outfield players are at theirs. If we had a team full of quality players i may have sympathy for your views, the truth is we don’t and many positions need addressing ahead of goalkeeper .
So are you saying none of them are good enough for Pepball ? How long before Manning catches on ? Where you and I differ is I'm saying Max's mistakes far outweigh any other position. My only hope and Manning keeps on about it is time on the training pitch........presumably this summer. I say hope because I'm a City fan but deep down I just don't believe we have the necessary quality.
I think he’d be better of matching the system we use to maximise the qualities of the players he has available to him at present. At present he’s picking the system and shoehorning players into the system. The result is many of the players aren’t being played to their strengths. He doesn’t even change things enough in game , adapting to how the opposition are playing, he just keeps largely to the same system. Even subs are predominantly like for like. it’s early days but I don’t see the upgrade personally, and results wise I feel we’ve gone backwards, not forwards as tweedle dum, and tweedle dummer promised.
Yet few weeks ago you was saying we were playing better and after Watford away saying play offs could be on the cards. Pearson’s not coming back, face it you’re going to have to store that duvet away with your SoD (who people compare Manning to) one.
I might be over simplifying but to me it is quite simple. If our players are not good enough to play tippy Tappy ‘Pep’ football then we need a ‘plan B’. Skills-challenged teams resort to ‘route 1’ football and for that you need a big number 9 to get above the opposition defenders. You also need to be able to put a decent cross in - I was shocked at our poor deliveries in the Coventry game (I fell asleep during the Leeds game). We don’t have the players for that option either. We’re doomed, DOOMED I tell ee….
Listen to Tinmans interview we are going for a powerful striker in the summer. For those who have not heard it, or on OTIB the interview is from 13th minute. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0h7q4ph?partner=uk.co.bbc&origin=share-mobile
I wouldn't think of Guardiola, but many teams in this division have played differing means of possession football from Burnley to Bournemouth and to what was once a club to follow Swansea to gain promotion. Having players in key positions is the start. So Dickie, and the non fit Naismith are obvious good on the ball candidates for a spine ... The task of turning this squad into top six at this time is sisyphus like. Time and signings are needed. Essentially when building teams that play out through the thirds its linear. Frequently that playing is from the? GK. See what I did? Ability to hit wide receivers, drive, clip and chip balls to feet and take part in patterns of play is essential. Its a fundamental position to any possession system, unless you can identify possession heavy teams with systems that don't? What are the passing abilities of the top three's keepers v BCFC's? What about clubs gaining promotion playing possession football last season, or seasons before? What you will see is that these keepers possess a key passing ability Max O'leary does not. Sorry, I don't understand what your post means. If the quest is to be a possession based team shouldn't establishing plan A and its recruitment be the first task rather than also plan B's, C's? City have been on that road with he L who should not be named J changing formations, approaches and players frequently.
Brian Tinnion maps out Bristol City's summer transfer plan with 'two important signings' in mind Bristol City looked to bring in a striker in January but ultimately a deal wasn't possible, due to availability and/or finances https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/brian-tinnion-bristol-city-transfer-9079999
Does that suggest they expect TC not to sign a new contract, because if he doesn’t we’ll have to sell him in the summer as he’ll only have a year left
It seems to me we know what we want, we just don't know who we want, same old, same old, nothing changes except Dumbos and Dummers excuses. Sorry to be negative but all of the changes seem so pointless, if you 'll excuse the pun.
From what I’ve seen and heard of Conway this season, he’d be better off staying with us for at least another year or two
Even Ederson makes mistakes as does other keepers in the Prem.. Max is learning and could easily adapt his game. Having a decent defence or players putting themselves into space helps that fact..
