Bristol City v Leeds Utd Sunday 4th August 2019 at 4.30pm || Live from Ashton Gate Streaming links to follow Bookies favourites Leeds (that's the kiss of death already) travel down to Bristol on Sunday for their first game of the 2019/20 Championship season. The Whites have had a particular busy Summer in the transfer market (selling players) bringing back the likes of Harrison and Clarke, whilst the addition of Costa on a loan to buy agreement from Wolves will certainly add quality and pace. Centre back Ben White, a Summer loan signing from Brighton has looked comfortable on the ball pre season; let us hope (and prey) he and Cooper can form a stronger central defensive unit than last season! Kamil Miazek steps up to reserve keeper having seen Bailey Peacock Farrell depart across the Pennines. Luke Ayling is injured, and will be replaced by either Dallas or Berardi at right back. He is joined on the treatment table by Shakleton, Roofe and Roberts. It looks likely that Bamford will act as Leeds lone striker unless Bielsa gambles by introducing Edmondson into the mix. Bristol City are unlikely to risk Adam Webster on Sunday. The 20m defender has been heavily linked to a move to the Amex Stadium. Unforunately for them, fellow defenders Bailey Wright and Nathan Baker are also doubtful, as is midfielder Korey Smith. Daniel Bentley is likely to make his league debut for Lee Johnson's side whilst Tomas Kalas has returned, but on a permanent basis following a successful loan period.
I'm going for a draw. Everyone knows that defence is the weak link in this Leeds side, but I don't think we have the attacking prowess to fully take advantage, 2-2 for me.
I meant it in relative terms, the expenditure has largely gone further up the field, and most in this division would be envious of your attacking ability. I see a lot of high scoring games for you this season. "We're gonna score 1 more than you" comes to mind. I have it between you and Fulham to win the league this season but hope you get off to a pi$$ poor start.....
I should have actually said that I think we may all be surprised by the defence - us included. It all comes down to Ben White. Will he produce or will he not. Untried in the Championship, but with a good pedigree. He's been very good in pre season. Very, very good, but tbh, not overly tested or pressured. If he continues at this level, he'll be better than Cooper & possibly even Jansson in jig time. Dallas has been on fire at RB, and Douglas in pre season has looked like the LB we were supposed to have signed. What a difference a year's holiday has made to him
Just a helping hand for any of you lovely people coming to Ashton Gate on Sunday. Getting to the Gate: Leeds United https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/getting-to-the-gate-leeds-united-1/
I've always liked Bentley as a keeper, and his quick distribution hurling the ball overarm into the opponent's half
20m for Webster is huge money. Is he that good. We only got 4m for Jansson, plus 1.5m if Brenford go up
You too matey!!! Should be a cracker. When the fixture came out Lee Johnson's comments were brilliant....
He, Webster is that good mate, cultured, classy footballer, only problem we have to give 20% of anything to Ipswich.
Going to be a near if not sellout, should be a cracker with both sides busy in the transfer market Sky have you to finish top followed by Fulham, followed by us. Sunday will be a corker too get our season hopefully with three points
So love the fact that nobody on here, on the radio tv or press have a scoobydoo how Leeds Utd will line up WJ and I have discussed this a while back because from pre season it looks like we go to Bielsa's Chile formation reverting back to the Argentina look when defending. 3-1-3-3 will scare the crap out of Bristol with a bit of 4-1-4-1 when they want a rest. Cant wait to see the shock when Sky pundits realise actually no manager can anticipate what Bielsa will do. 0-3 Leeds Sorry Bristol fans
Seen quite a few reports saying this season we’ll be playing 3-3-1-3 https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/marcelo-bielsa-3313-leeds-tactics-16682486 Explains it nicely, says the players were not ready for this last season
