Intention lost us that game. Time and time again, we see that when we go forward and attack (usually because we need to), we look a top side. We just decide not to kill the opposition off. The frustrating thing is, we did against Cardiff. And I thought we’d turned a corner. Ah well. As for the goalkeeping. Allsopp not good enough again. Ingram was stupid to try and pass it out. Even if he is told to do it (which I will never agree with), you don’t play that ball through the middle. Why can’t keepers just kick it long anymore? Masters of our own downfall tonight. Despite being excellent for most of the first half.
He wasn't the worst of the 4 mentioned, but our play broke down with him more times than usual tonight. Granted he was out of position for most of it again and credit where its due, he's done a decent enough job at left back when needed.
Bristol City manager Liam Manning told BBC Radio Bristol: "Up until we scored the goal I thought we were excellent, we had real control, really dangerous, got in some terrific areas, rightly so got the penalty and just wobbled a bit the next 10. "We got a little bit emotional, lacked a bit in discipline, disconnected a little bit, jumped when we shouldn't and then momentum shifted with them. The penalty for them - ridiculous to be honest, having seen it back again now. I'm just delighted that didn't decide the game. "I think what we showed second half is a level of calmness and we stuck together. We've spoken a lot about that and I thought we did a terrific job of showing composure and control to keep believing in how we play and how we do, and as we've seen today the goals and the results come." Hull manager Liam Rosenior told BBC Radio Humberside: "I'm not being disrespectful to Bristol City but at the moment they scored the second goal we shouldn't concede, we were in complete control of the game. "I thought we showed again a really good resilience and character to come back. They get a penalty, we respond really well and get two goals and in that moment, and in the second half especially, we felt we controlled the game in our shape and with the ball. "But for two really really poor moments we end up losing the game. "It's really frustrating. If we'd had come here tonight and were beaten by far the better team and they were better than us in every department I'd tell you the truth, but it's not the case. "That's almost even more frustrating from my point of view as from a coaching perspective - I'm sat up in the stand today - we look a good team home and away but if we want to achieve what I think is possible for this group we have to learn on the job really quickly and not throw points away."
Having seen the highlights I don't know what to say....nothing constructive....so I'll just say, have a nice Christmas.
At least Liam seems to realise we shouldnt throw points away yet we still have some people saying: "we are 6th. you shouldnt complain" I'm glad Liam is not satisfied
Agree you watch the videos not a penalty referee got that completly wrong. Refs are shocking in the championship.
We had that female referee the other week who will be making history as the first female referee in the PL. She was far better than the majority of referees we have had. The biggest compliment you could pay her was that you did not notice her and there were no controversial decisions. Would be happy to see her in charge of more of our games.
Tbf she didn't really have any big decisions to make, but I liked the way she kept the game flowing and didn't take any **** from players
Saw the winner live & what a ****ing catastrophe, I haven’t seen much of us this season to be honest, mainly bits of games here & there, highlights have been my most views. However when I have seen us live, I’ve thought we look so good attacking, but our play around at the back is suicidal! Today, as soon as Ingram came on, he didn’t go to claim the corner, then when we get possession back, the defenders are fannying about, before eventually back to Ingram, who, it seemed inevitably, passed it to a Bristol player, more piss poor attempts at tackling & it’s in our net. It just lead to more attacks & ours looked toothless, we had a couple, but Traore’s attempt was rushed & Delap on the wing with not enough in the box. A loss? yes, a bad loss? Maybe, we need to be smarter in those situations, a new keeper on the pitch, yes give him a feel of the ball, but don’t put him under pressure straight away!
I’m glad I was out on the piss tonight and didn’t really get involved in the game, but lads/lasses Rosey is no Steve Bruce he's not going to get us promoted, we lose too many games, we concede to many games first, we have no plan B, maybe next season eh
True, but as I said the day after the biggest compliment to the way she handled the game was that you never gave it a second thought it was a female referee. That sounds a bit patronising but it is not meant that way it is a compliment to her and the way she handled the game. Think the players realised she did well as well.
Unfortunately, I don't think either keeper is the answer. We're shipping too many poor goals with Allsop, and when Ingram came on there was an instant shift in our dynamism at the back. Both were massively highlighted to Rosy last night. We need a new keeper that can do both but I imagine there won't be a cheap option for that. Darlow may well be the best available option.
