Defensively weak, yet again, soft free kick for their second. Burke at fault, combined with Stewart. I’m in 2 minds about De Wijs, he makes good tackles, but at the same time he seems to make mistakes, rash tackles, missed tackles, can’t think of anything outstanding today. The feed kept jumping so may have missed something. However at the other end he looks more dangerous than Eaves & Magennis combined, the pair of them can barely jump for a ball let alone win a ball. Too many stupid fouls in their box at the end.
Tigers' terrible 2020 trundles on While the hosts' two goals came from moments of Paterson magic, Hull - whose tally of 74 goals conceded is the Championship's second worst defensive record, behind Luton - again struggled at the back. Only key saves from George Long, who denied Nahki Wells and Diedhiou in a one-sided 15-minute spell either side of half-time that also included both of the Robins' goals, kept them in contention. No team has conceded more goals (40) and lost more games (12) in the second tier in 2020 than Hull but the fight they showed after going 2-0 down will have provided McCann some consolation.... Consolidation or delusion?
A really frustrating defeat as actually played a lot more football than in the Boro game. But we just give goals away for fun. I do think we have goals in us in these remaining games, but no indication we can keep a clean sheet and without that it's hard to see us winning the two games we probably need to win.
A lot of talk of wigans impending points deduction, there's also fc giganticus to consider too, a potential 12 point ffp deduction due to fiddling of the stadium sale would put them bottom on 40 and they're in pretty **** form at the moment too
Why postpone the inevitable for another season? Take it on the chin this season whilst we still have some decent L1 larkers at the club.
EFL have been very clear on Wigan, and points deduction being delayed until their final position is known. With Wednesday they are under investigation relating to the sale of Hillsboro to get round FFP rules, the main issue being the accounting date as they're accused of accounting for the sale earlier than happened to fiddle the 3 year losses (as well as over inflating the price too). According to reports a decision is due in the next couple of days as to what will happen to them, there's no precedent set for this particular type of issue and tbh no one knows for sure. All my Weds supporting mates are v fearful that a points deduction is coming though and it wouldn't surprise me if what they're accused of has happened given how the EFL have treated financial shenanigans for other teams in recent times.
There's always the hope that something changes isn't there....new manager, new vision....oh who am I kidding.....guess I'd rather be **** in the championship next year than be **** in league 1
