Yep, really refreshing to see some resilience from the team. It would have been very easy to buckle after giving up a 2 goal lead.

Three goals and three points against a strong Middlesbrough has to be a good day at the office and yet I still see shocking mistakes. Our man on man tackling is at a pub level of football with arms and legs flailing at thin air and the end result is a turnover just about every time. When you looked at the same scenarios with today's opposition they won those 50/50 balls almost every time and they were able to slice us open with impunity. Chickens with heads cut off is the phrase that comes to mind in virtually all of our matches and I am sure Liam has seen the light of where our continual problems lie, and we have to hope that with players coming back from injury we can move upwards and onwards. There is still a massive job ahead for Liam and his crew because the sad news is that despite a vital win we still look like a job still a long way from our target. Can we continue the unbeaten run against Norwich who are a bogey team for us in the past, but another 3 points could make the rest of our season enjoyable - and that's what Liam has clearly stated he wants to offer. Bring it on please but for goodness sakes make it a little bit easier on all of our City hearts. :1980_boogie_down:

P.S. Zak you are forgiven my man.

We threw away a two goal lead against these last season.

The squad that NP inherited was a LOT better than that inherited by LM

On the positives from today, we scored 3 goals!! We all know that scoring has been our Achilles heel all season, with only 1 goal in our previous 4 games. Generally we have been good defensively, a moment of indecision from Zak let them back in, so we should take heart from the fact we were not carved open.

Oddly Zak under LM seems to have reverted to the Zak of a couple of years ago. He’s gone from being an asset to once again a liability.

LJ was BCFC’s ‘Chernobyl’. So we have about a 20,000 year wait after his final departure until the club will be successful.

It was the result today that will be remembered. Not the way we played. We desperately need a reliable keeper in the transfer window. You can’t have defence play with confidence, when they have little faith in the man between the sticks.

Timo Horn would be an outstanding acquisition. A top GK, solid pedigree, a veteran with youth on his side, and a true leader.

It took 4minutes for Franz to give Boro their first chance.
I'll keep saying it - he thinks he's a far better footballer than he is. Forget the fancy stuff ffs keep it simple you are not Franz B.
2nd half and wtf, I'll need to see it again but it looked he tried a cushioned header back. Unbelievable and he gave Boro what they needed.
Next he fires one out to Tanner, equally culpable, and we know the rest, 2-2.
    Anyway rant over.

The good bits......I definitely saw a better organised/safer set up and the players certainly have bought into it.
Boro certainly looked more comfortable on the ball but our discipline kept them out and then Tainton, sorry TGH, scores a worldy.
Think it was James who was clever getting the penalty brilliantly put away by Tommy.

2nd half we/Vyner gifted them a way back. Anyway we rode the storm and a great assist from Dickie gave Sykes the chance - a brilliant finish.
Great to see Naismith and Williams back as well
I've just read umpteen pages on OTIB of the game and not one mention of Knight......he was magnificent.

    Just back from gym-my take
Clearly not pumping the ball down the wings for players to try and chase.
Playing it on the deck which I truly agree with especially with small players up front.
However I just hope we have the quality of players to play this way.
There was so much backwards football today-the south stand as one were saying forward forward forward.
4 points from 6 I would have snapped your hand of in LM first games.
Great 3 points keeping a very decent Boro at bay just.
As said early doors and hopefully LM can stamp his ways on the players he has.
We need a NO9 and a Goalkeeper in Jan 2024.
Something Nige needed before a ball was kicked in anger.
We need to give Harry a go with Tommy or Sammy alongside him.
Hopefully LM can see that even after two games.
2 points of the playoffs get it right in January we then can give it a good go for a playoff spot.

I agree we need a keeper and No9 as the highest priority. Cornick just isn’t good enough for me, he won’t score enough, time to cast him aside and move on.

Agreed, we have better wingers than Cornick to play out wide and his link up play isn’t clever enough for him to play centrally, plus he’s not a goalscorer. I think he would struggle to make the side of a top half league one team. I think with LM’s system we’ll need someone with better composure on the ball. It’s a shame we’ve lost Alex Scott because he had that, but there are definitely better out there than Cornick. But from what I hear he is one of the hardest working in training and is a good person to have in the dressing room. So it’s a shame he just doesn’t have the quality at this level.
