If RLB needs Dan Neil to tell him to drop Watson he isnt the coach I think he is. The fact Watson was not hooked at half time was enough to have me asking what Regis was doing, and I rarely question coaches. Best all round if he sits out the rest of the season, even if it just avoids his younger brother the discomfort it could bring.
I'm not suggesting RLB isn't aware but any team's captain, and senior players, would be speaking to a manager. If this was mid-table, end of season, stroll to the beach that's one thing ... ... but this is serious and Watson isn't bothered. I'm just watching the full 90 minutes back and he's shameless.
This is where leaders are supposed to be stand up and be counted which I why I name dropped VVD screaming at Trent on several occasions when he’s left them wide open. A captain who isn’t vocal is hopeless imo. They are essentially the manager on the pitch and your captain should be calling out such a performance or lack of.
Blimey, it hasnt taken long for Dan Neil to be dragged into the Watson performance has it? Stand up and be counted is exactly what Neil did on Friday. Far more than some of the other players on that pitch by the way, who get a free pass. He leads by example week in week out, yet he is still called into question over this. Madness.
Don't be daft, he hasn't been 'dragged' into anything ... ... he's the club captain and has responsibilities which he accepted when he took on the role of captain. I know it's Easter but no one's crucifying Neil. I said he should be talking to the manager, I didn't say he hadn't or won't.
No one's said any different. I think it's reasonable to expect the club captain to speak to the manager about issues on the pitch. I've no idea whether he has or not.
I know you didn’t say that mate Personally I’d have liked Neil to clip the lazy little bastard but apparently that’s not allowed anymore
Mayenda is my favourite player in this squad and I don't think it's particularly close. Special player.
If I remember rightly he was the one we signed and was expected to be our main striker, however he was carrying an injury when we signed him. Things obviously didn't start as the club had wanted but I think it shows the club had obviously see what his potential was when we first signed him
I was referring to the idea he needs to stand up and be counted, and a captain that isnt vocal on the pitch is hopeless. I read that as dragging Neil in as a factor. Neil was tremendous and led from the front, as I have said. I made no reference to whether he should be talking to the mgr.
He didn't say Neil was hopeless as you're claiming, he said ' A captain who isn’t vocal is hopeless imo.' You've actually backed that up and said that, in your opinion, Neil actually is vocal. I don't believe he's as vocal as he should be but none of us know as we're not on the pitch. All I'm saying is that Neil, and the senior players, should be speaking to the manager about Watson. Surely you can't disagree with that.
It was a nothing game for us, we're just going through the motions. We can beat any of those teams in the playoff places on our day. What we don't need is going into the playoffs with a burnt out squad with lots of injuries. These last few games are only training games, for sharpness and fitness for fringe players, but maintaining a competitive edge.
