No-one at the club would say that. Are you thinking that's his agent saying that?

Young lad listening to his mag fatha, happens and is pretty irritating to see from an outside perspective.

The second any important minute is available, I frankly don't want him to sniff the grass.

Disappointed. Not that we got beat but the manner of it.

We started well. But **** me thats incredibly impulsive refereeing. I'm not convinced theres any contact and Wells stays on his feet until he realises hes going away from goal and then his feet inexplicably go from under him. Their players all get round the ref and his card is out before hes even got time to think about it, a complete shocker of a decision in the 7th minute of the game.

From there I thought we dealt with it well, they offered nowt and Mayenda was making a nuisance of himself. The goal is absolutely superb, to travel from the edge of your own D, beat a number of men and still have the gas and composure to score. He has had an excellent season, only 19 too so his potential is frightening.

Inevitably in the 2nd half they change it and it becomes the alamo. Albeit it takes a great strike to beat us, I'll show my arse if that lad ever scores a better goal in his career mind you. The second one is poor defensively, we have a few chances to shift it and then Jobes touch is poor. Handy deflection does Patto. Sums the day up really.

The ref was appauling and the commentary team on Sky were a biased mess. But, we're told bad decisions even out - I look forward to winning the playoff final with something fortuitious.

Yes, I did mention in my previous post about him being badly advised by his (un licensed) agent

I know no one at the club would say that.

Nothing to do with leaving for me, it’s the attitude since the move was announced. Lazy, half arsed walking around the pitch refusing to put a tackle in. Undeserving of the shirt

At least the more likeable lads seem to be grounded. Despite some mag associations Riggy is well advised through his uncle and Young is just a massive massive sunderland fan.

Jeez, you have a chip on your shoulder. At the start of this season nobody knew anyone in your side either, except Jobe who was only known because of his brother. Nobody, probably not even Sunderland fans believed you’d be where you are, same with us. Our “average” players haven’t lost to your lot yet this season. The sending off didn’t actually help us much as you might think, as you parked the bus for 80 mins, and breaking that down is not a strength of ours.

Not sure if it’s an agent thing. I think Brighton is a good move, think it makes sense for a young player personally, as much as it feels **** for us to say but Brighton are a decent way above us currently. But it’s clear as day he’s not interested 100% but more importantly even if he was, I don’t think he offers enough anyways. Will be binned for the playoffs and rightfully so, just frustrating we don’t have a natural LW to balance the team and get our better players in their best positions

You parked the bus at our place with 11 men lol.. I’m just saying I’d be fairly confident, you’re good at home especially against the poorer teams in the league but record against the better teams isn’t great and ours generally has been decent even with a few fluffed penalties costing us against Burnley and Sheff Utd. Squad is largely players that have been average in the championship for years I don’t think we have reason to be fearful but it’s play offs anything can happen on the day. I’m not sure you can argue playing against 10 men for 80 minutes isn’t much of a bonus, it allowed to you to control the game. You had about 30% possession at our place what’s to say it wouldn’t of been a similar story today?

I hope you play Cov as well, I want Sheff Utd. We should have beaten them at our place, we $h@t ourselves in the last 10 mins and threw the game away. I really don’t rate them, tbh. Cov have had a bit of a Houdini over us the last 2 seasons, so happy to avoid them. Assuming of course we make the play-offs….
Fair play to the 3400 fans who came knowing there wa snothing riding on this game - great support and respect.

You parked the bus at our place with 11.

In the 3 poorest sides seen at the SOL this season, and we had already rested or lost half a team before the Red, and had our captain and most important CM playing CB.

I’ve no issue with your club and if we didn’t go up be good to see yous up there, but we are levels ahead of you ability wise.

Only heard of Jobe? But we turned down bids for Ballard, Trai and Rigg in summer. Neil been scouted by top clubs for 2 years. Patti was linked with Liverpool and Mepham was playing in the PL.

Behave yourself man, you aren’t even in the ****ing playoffs yet, let alone anywhere near us 11 v 11 in a game where you actually have to try and win.

If we don’t go up though, like I say, I’d hope it was yous who did.

Haway man, bit of an exaggeration, you saying people didn’t know Meptham, Neil, Hume, Roberts? We even had Clarke at the start and finished 6th in 22/23, I don’t think it’s a huge surprise we ended up playoff contenders, finishing 4 comfortably was unexpected mind.

By your logic, we should be above Burnley who we took 4 points off and should have been 6, and Plymouth are better than us as they took 4 points from us.

And you don’t think having an extra player for 83 minutes + injury time isn’t that much of an advantage? Come on man, that’s just being daft.

Can’t say I’ve seen a lot of Bristol city but at our strongest, I’m really not sure who walks into our strongest 11, but you are well organised and a tough team to beat. But if we have aspirations of being in the prem, we should be beating you. Never a formality of course and it would be tight over a semi final, time will tell.

What do you make of Manning? I actually wanted him to come to us a few years back, always looked to play possession based football at MKD which I liked

Think anyone wants Sheffield United in the final. We all agree they are beatable, we’ve outplayed them twice.

    Wilder is ****e.

He’s been a great boss. He has his style, not all of our fans like it, but he’s taken a team that has spent little money to the brink of the play-offs, so I’m happy with him I think both of our managers have far out performed what most people thought we’d achieve this season. I, and all the pundits and bookies didn’t think either of us would be top 6, we, of course may not be come the end.

Been a nice progression every year for you lot, that's the ideal isn't it just being able to see the team improving year upon year.

I know the PL has the prestige and money, but I prefer the Championship. No VAR for a start. The gap is too big, I’d put money down right now that 2, if not all 3 that go up will come down again next season. I’m genuinely happy just to be in the mix at this stage of the season.

Personally (as I have mentioned on this board prior) I think all it's taken is a couple of years of consecutive 3 promoted all go down for the gap to become an almost unapproachable challenge. 2 years where 17 of the same teams have been getting 100m+.

The debate is about whether you would be happy to never have a chance of the premier league or Europe in the future, probably need to get a taste of that money soon or it'll be almost impossible to ever have a chance.

My opinion for what it’s worth….
The sending off changed the game. I understand why you guys would be peeved about it. Wells used his experience and made the most of it I agree, but he was through on goal and contact was made - it’s one of those that we can debate forever……
As Supcon said, we tend to struggle against sides that defend - and of course, when down to 10 men away from home it’s the logical tactic - and you did it very well.
Your Mayenda was an absolute pain and scored a great goal. Our defence couldn't handle him. We huffed and puffed with loads of possession around your box but without really testing your keeper.
Second half we made our pressure count - with a worldie from Dickie that no keeper could have saved.
I was at the game with my wife and my son and his wife - I said to them that despite our possession we didn’t work your keeper. The saves he made were routine (apart from the goals of course) whereas you forced Max into a diving save in the second half. The only exception was the clearance off the line which you did just after our equaliser.
Overall I think we deserved the win - but we were gifted an advantage by the sending off.
Again, we can debate what might have been forever - if your lad hadn’t clipped Wells then he may have gone on to score(??) probably not, but we will never know.
My own feeling is that without the sending off we would not have won. A draw would have been a more likely result.
Anyway, it looks like we will meet again soon - Hasta luego….. !!!!!
