I now think that the pub with the Scotsman was the Carpenter’s Arms and the one with the coins stuck to the bar was the Hunter’s Rest. I can rest easy now!
Sorry RS but the pub with the Scotsman in was DEFINITELY the Hunters Rest. Not sure about the coins on the bar though.
AH the carpenters arms .. back room buffet buy your meat fill your plate all cold side dishes .. "got told off" a couple times for over filling plate ... a stay till kicked out "time called" and watched a member of staff take all the part empty bowls to the waste bin ......... so went a bit later complained to manager and he said after 10pm you can fill your boots [ but had to buy your meat/plate before 10pm! like 9 59! all said and done light heartedly.......
I came across an olde worlde pub somewhere that had cracked large roof beams head clearance was about 7ft or less ... in all the cracks of the wood were squeezed coins ... some were real silver 6d's shillings etc As an add on to the HLI at Priddy cross roads my pewter pot has been in residence since the eaarly mid 70's The staff know everyones pot [ after a few weeks of use! ] Through work commitments I didnt manage to go there for a couple years . on my return had to have a glass .... was asked are back regular now then? if so I will get your pot from out back its in the storage box ... sure enough next visit off the hangar above bar and been there ever since! SOME POTS BEEN IN USE for over 60 years .. they are coated brown inside!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! some have been repaired with silver solder! maybe more than once ..........
A quick thought~ Season 2022/23 ...Games .....Pos.....Wins......Pts ..............................46..............14.......15...........59 Season 2023/24...42..............12.......16...........57 Progress (Almost)
points wise think it will be / has to be ! in mid 60's [64/66 ].......ending the season unbeaten will be a a good flourish........
Bristol City and Chelsea transfer agreement worked perfectly for all parties: View The Robins handed Tammy Abraham the platform to go on to bigger and better things within the footballing world https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/b...eement-worked-perfectly-for-all-parties-view/
Morning RP, I see the early sun has gone to your head Not all the 65 were bad, despite what you say. I’m yet to be convinced by Cornick, Atkinson, King and Naismith either, and don’t get me started on Danny Simpson
Bristol City: Lee Johnson should have sleepless nights over major transfer mistake - View Bristol City sold Luke Ayling to Leeds United under Lee Johnson and the defender became a legend at Elland Road https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/b...on-sleepless-nights-over-luke-ayling-mistake/ Lee Johnson's decision to sell Luke Ayling for so cheap now looks ridiculous
I thought getting shot of Ayling was a mistake at the time, but plenty of our fans didn’t rate him. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. With hindsight I would have chosen different lottery numbers.
LJ’s hands were tied by Sir Steve, he wanted him gone after the ‘pint of pi$$’ incident at Cheltenham. To be fair, at that time we signed Adam Matthew’s who had been superb the season before on loan, but his form fell of a cliff, and we had Mark Little who had been superb in our promotion year. For Sir Steve it was a no brainer on his mind, but as you say, hindsight is a wonderful thing - and used often on here….. Didn’t we get £750k for him?
