Just sums up how bad we are Chris Martin.!!!!! No idea who the other guy is. Didnt the carrots get hammered by 6 last game?? Next season will be stop the rot.
Think they paid around 5 mill for Massengo from Monaco?? He was very good and strong patrolling the space in front of their back 4 and Martin did the job that Moore does for us when he plays... We badly missed him today. Fair result in the end.
What a horrible game. 2 poor teams. No real football played. Only difference was quality finishing by Bristol from breakaways. So no complaints. As for City it’s getting tiresome watching such lamentable defending, stationary midfield play, clumsy forward play (except today 2 strikers scored) and an endless stream of meaningless punts, passes and conceding throw ins. A few decent corners from Doyle and his assist aside the crossing was terrible. Not sure why Morison started with Pack and kept on Harris. McGuinness, Harris, Nelson, Ralls, Flint, Pack and Ng were abysmal. Collins likewise even though he scored. What’s the point of playing a back 5 if (i) the 3 central defenders are incapable and (ii) the full backs don’t play as wing backs. We can only hope that Posh, Barnsley, Reading and Derby keep below us. It’s difficult to see how we’re going to get 25 odd more points. Possibly Moore returning might help and a new winger.
Let’s face it. We’re in trouble. The Wurzels are not a good team but we are a lot worse. Where was the passing game that we are supposed to be developing? All those hoof balls from the back to no one. I’m really starting to worry that we’re heading for Division 1. How can it be fixed? Well sort out the defence for starters because better teams will rip them apart. What is Hudson doing? As for the manager, is his inexperience showing? Do we need to replace him? One thing for sure is that this team is nowhere near good enough and we need to make some positive changes soon.
Some early flashes of ability from Doyle and an excellent quick cross for Collins' goal but drifted out of the game - we can only hope was down to lack of match fitness in his first time out. Any passing ability, albeit in slow motion that we showed in that Blackburn game went of the window today. We can't play the quick passing game to get through opposition midfield and defence to save our lives. Flint and Nelson went long practically every time they got the ball, and both wingbacks were totally inneffective in their roles going forward let alone defending. Bringing back Giles must be top priority. This is going to be a slog. Up front, whoever plays there is going to have to do it on their own because there's no support from midfield. Pack was atrociously slow moving the ball, and only Ralls came out of that with any credit. Wintle didn't have much time and should have startrd - otherwise he should have been left at Blackpool. We might as well stick Moore up front and pump the long balls up to him because we have no other viable gameplan with the squad and the management of it. I'm in no way being rude the Bristol City in saying this, but it beggars belief that we lost in that manner to such an ordinary side.
All the talk after our display v Blackburn of the possession and passing with no end product when today we lost because of amateurish defending. Irish rightly questions Hudson. Until we cure our defence and prevent teams having so much space to shoot we’re going to continue to lose. OS, never mind sticking Moore up front he might as well have stuck Flint or Morrison up top.
Better than Collins and Harris and Moore hasn't covered himself in glory this season. You could see Watters wanting to run in behind their defence but we had no one on the field to see or make the pass. Might be better when we get him and Doyle on the pitch together. Collins and Harris have been given so many chances. Time to give someone else a go. And he took his goal well today.
Not good enough for what? Not good enough to play instead of Harris and Collins up front? I'd play Watters for the next few games along with Moore if he's fit. I'd like to see that pairing because the Collins/Harris combo is on the road to nowhere for the club as an attacking threat. Back to the old problem though - who's going to play them in? Doyle has the pedigree to do it and with Ralls alongside him could work well. Pack has had it for me - hoplesssly slow moving the ball. Wintle to have a crack at it behind Doyle and Ralls - I really don't know why Morison didn't start with that midfield today. At the back we had big problems today although they've looked far more solid previously this season. Options are few unless Morison changes to a back 4 with an extra man in midfield.
So, as the saying goes, there's lies, damn lies and statistics.... They basically beat us playing a bit like we have for the last few seasons.... Quick breaks, get it forward quickly and use it well when you have it... Lost our ariel duals but outpassed them and had better accuracy etc... Continues to back up Morison's assertion that we are lacking at the top end of the pitch (as if we didn't know)
What’s the story on Colwill Anyway I’ve had enough of 5 at the back. Get shot of it. What’s the point as I suggested in my earlier post? Put an extra midfielder in. City have got midfielders aplenty to choose from (so long as it’s not Pack Vaulks or Bacuna ) with Moore & Max up top.
Morison just said this - it might be a clue?............ "Players who are not in the squad who kick off, 'Oh I'm not in the squad, what is your plan for me?' It's one game. Relax. We are going into two games a week for six weeks, everyone is going to be used."
If Collins is better we should give up now. A journeyman who disrespects journeymen by calling him that. Let's see how many Watters can score this season compared to Collins 3 and Harris, is it 3?, in 20 odd games each.
No argument there. None of the back five come out of that with any positive aspects although I'll give Dramegh the benefit as only his second game and the other 4, who should do better, were awful.
