    What will it take?

If we get van Gaal and our primary targets so our team on paper looks much improved will teams feel beating in the tunnel again or do we need to start hammering sides early in the season to send out a little reminder.

Liverpool of course were a laughing stock for some 20 years prior to this season. They got their fear factor back with impressive attacking displays so it can be done relatively easily in the right set up.

We have 4 games left. Personally I would play the kids but perhaps going full pelt and looking to batter sides would work better for us. it would help close the horrible chapter in the clubs history that was the 'Moyes Error' and raise confidence for the summer and next season.

Of course in some games we are still feared. Arsenal are terrified of any United side, regardless of manager of line up ( weve seen some comical lines ups v Arsenal and still won, even thrashing them ) but others have taken full advantage of the weak United.

In all honesty I think many teams will be far more cautious against us next season as they wont know what to expect. Come at us and under someone like van Gaal who wants the opponent come at you will take advantage of it. Sit back and we will have to show we can grind out wins like the United we all know.

I think it's basically just a case of getting back to winning ways. If we get Van Gaal in and we play to the best of our abilities we should have no problems beating most sides at home, regardless of weather they come to us with any fear or not. Our players are simply better than most sides in the division , so if we match them for work rate and intensity our superior footballing ability should see us win most games comfortably.

I think though even the sides at the top of the table will be looking at us with a fair bit of fear, as hopefully we can get Van Gaal in, along with a few stellar signings, which will send out a message that we mean business

Stinks on the Liverpool and Arsenal boards. The distinct aroma of fear.

they know we wont make the same mistake twice and they are annoyed that United are not as thick as Liverpool were these past 25 years.

If the ******ed scousers do not win that first premiership title, when they are so favoured by the refs AND playing only league matches, they are more useless than we thought...

'Worried' Debacle<whistle> And something about Arsenals "knowing it" when United passed them on the way up the table <laugh>

It's funny watching the roller coaster ride that is UIRs mental stability though out this whole season.

I asked my misses for an early Christmas present, she asked what I wanted, I said Tony Pulis to become United manager this summer.

Good point & topic. I felt we had the opportunity with Moyes to carry on in the traditions of SAF, but was proved wrong. Discussing fear factor, I think thats what caused OUR downfall, as Moyes was far to cautious, whereas SAF would want to grab the game by the throat, attack and win. Just got to accept this season was a best forgotten disaster, and look forward to a dramatic improvement next year.

    United cool VG talk.

Maybe they are quietly working to bring Rafa from Napoli. Now that's worth pulling up the sofa to the TV and getting a refuse sack full of popcorn for.

I could see Rafa going to Spurs. His problem as a manager is that he plays not to lose rather than to win, that's why his European record is good, as that way of playing works in Europe, but it doesn't work when you need to pick up 3 points every week, and can't afford to draw lots of games
