And there you have it. No knee jerk, sweeping changes to the team but different tactics with the same personnel and we get the result. Well done Town!!
You are quite right BigAl, cant remember being in such a happy comfort zone of top 6, and believing that actually belong there for years! With this squad, and Bru n Bish to return, the future is bright! Bring on the Brum!
Great result SD, one point tho, we did start with both Fraser & Ainsley which I think as both playing wide, made a big difference. Fraser on Fire! But I didnt see a stream last night.
What a result! I was refreshing the BBC live feed when it got towards the end there, considering our tendency to concede last minute goals, but we came through unscathed and picked up a clean sheet too! As much as I slate Tommy Smith on here, he is capable of scoring the odd goal, and last night's was very important. It's ultimately a results business, so picking up all three points at Elland Road is an encouraging sign and reversed our poor form over the last couple of matches. As San Diego rightly pointed out above, Mick didn't instigate any massive changes, and we still got the result. However, I would point out that playing wingers in their natural positions certainly helped last night. Still, faith was retained in the likes of Gerken, Smith, Knudsen, and Douglas, and they appeared to put in decent performances. Birmingham at home on Friday, another side we struggle to beat consistently, but I'm feeling a lot more optimistic than before last night.
We're actually unbeaten in 7 against them (4 wins/3 draws) They haven't beaten us since the 11/12 season
Typical sour grapes!! Leeds manager Uwe Rosler: "Overall it's disappointing that we didn't show enough courage and bravery to enforce our game on the opposition. "We got drawn into their style of play and we are not that type of team. "In the last 15 minutes when Ipswich started to tire, we started to play our game, but it's too late."
Yes I watched his interview. Apparently we also time wasted at the end feigning injuries etc and 6 mins stoppage time wasn't nearly enough! Also the ref had a bad game...angry about the penalty shout no doubt! Poor old Uwe... He said we'd obviously done our homework on Leeds, maybe he should've done the same on us.
Translated into non-managerial bullshit: "Overall, it's disappointing that we were not good enough to dictate the game, especially at home and in front of 22,000 passionate fans, and that our players bottled it against a very well organised team." "We were not clever enough to see that Ipswich had their tactics spot on, and I didn't have a clue how to change our style of play." "By the 75th minute, Ipswich were in total control, and even when they relaxed and took their foot off the gas, we were not good enough to break them down."
I don't know where I got that impression from! Always thought they were one of those sides we struggled to beat.
