Picking up on a few points. For me, the price of signings are unimportant and one persons cast off is another person missing piece. There is no hard and fast rules about how a team should be set up so just because a player is deemed surplus at one club it doesnt mean he is useless just that he doesnt fit into someone plans. Spending money is easy - using it sensibly isnt. For me the issues are more about ambition and intent. If you go out to defend and sit on your own 18 yard box for a whole 90 minutes then chances are you are going to come unstuck. You dont have to go mad but the old adage of attack is the best line of defence means a lot to me. The further away from your goal the ball is, the less likely the opposition are to score. You can play a defensive game but you need an out and counter attacking with pace is a great threat. Unfortunately it is something we dont/ cant do. we seem to clear to the half way line then stop. sometimes we just need to shows some intent.
