Agreed South I'm definitely pro Mick but he's going to have to work it out sooner rather than later......!!!!!!
Alex Mathie has a point.... The difference in quality between the teams shows how difficult we might find it this season.
There is absolutely no depth to our midfield. Bit of context; Bishop, Fraser, and Oar are all out but the likes of Toure, Coke, and Douglas have been mediocre at best. We're set up far too defensively, which maybe would've been fine had we fielded a decent keeper, such as Bart, and brought in a natural right-back in the transfer window.
Lets hope all our injury woes are fixed by Xmas to give some much needed cheer. Glad Bru has had a good game. Vindicates fans views.
actually that's a yes like you said the other night about supporting town I just cant help it but cant help thinking im a glutton for punishment. the mrs is happy with this one as daughter at uni up that way ! maybe ill buy you a pint
Theres a good side in there just waiting to burst out and take the league by storm.....opens another beer .......
We can meet up and compare women if nothing else - happily meet up with you in a bar / concourse if you'd like met a few off here it's always a pleasure got some good people. Really looking forward to meeting Spanish at some point, table for two, dim the lights, oh yes. What a f*************ing disaster tonight was, but us losing did make me ££££ in an acca sadly!
Theres 7 of us going on Saturday Westy and I always look forward to an away game but not this time, our lack of investment in quality players has come back to haunt us, as Alex Mathie said last night " free transfers will only get you so far " he must have a degree in stating the bloody obvious as everyone else has known that for months. I can only assume that theres no ambition left in ME with regards to ITFC or he would have added some quality last January to maximise our play off chances or give MM some of the Mings and Cressy millions in the Summer to boost our squad but no, just more cast offs and a player from the Polish second division, whats the point of clearing out the deadwood and replacing it with other peoples deadwood? oh and a couple of loan players to get them some experience for their parent Clubs. Also this week Scuse gets another 3 year contract with a further 1 year option, how the hell does such a mediocre player get a 4 year deal? If its because hes considered to be one of our best players then God help us! ME has the power and the resources to change this lack of quality but he chooses not to, so we the fans know where we stand and that is absolutely nowhere, if ME has really given up on his ITFC " project " then get the Hell out so we can get an owner who is prepared to back his Manager.
Fieldmarshall, Mathie alsi went on to say that he was not sure if the money was made available or not or said that Mick may have been happy with what he had!! I honestly think money was/is available but Mick thinks he is a good enough manager to do it on the cheap, its the arrogance of the man!! Not only that but we have the players to do better than we are but they have to be played in correct position and the right formation played, the prob is, he wont drop his favs!
Well said fieldmarshall. The lack of investment in this football club by Marcus Evans, and the extortionate ticket prices that makes us one of the most expensive football clubs in England to follow, is disgusting. I know not everybody on here likes the idea of spending money (and the Keane/Jewell years provide a cautionary tale from experience), but McCarthy is clearly a better manager than those two idiots and I'd feel he'd be able to spent that money more efficiently and effectively. Stridently following FFP, where clubs hardly get sanctioned for failing to meet anyway, is all well and good from a business perspective, but it's clearly not helping us build a competitive squad. With the exception of the wingers, and arguably Pitman, we haven't improved the squad from last year. In some respects, our defence and midfield have got worse! I'd like to think McCarthy didn't turn down a bigger budget. We obviously don't know the full details, and while McCarthy comes across as a stubborn character, he's happily spent money before when he's been offered it at previous clubs, such as Wolves and Sunderland. Like it or not, spending money at this level is almost a necessity to get promotion. I've said it before, but every club that has achieved promotion over the past several years has spent something. I just see no ambition from the board and, looking at the starting line-up last night, not much from McCarthy either! We're not looking capable or consistent enough to mount another promotion charge. This time last season we were in the midst of an purple patch of form that eventually resulted in one defeat out of 23 odd games. I think we can confidently predict we won't repeat those exploits this year. Cut through the club's PR spin, and the blame should be shared among Mick, the players, and the owner. It p***es me off because we've been languishing in this division for almost 15 years now.
