Absolutely – what a fabulous goalkeeper he has developed into and shown that he can be.

What I like about Tim also is he clearly has a love for the football club and so he should, but it's great to see when foreign lads come in and really adopt the place.

You have a passionate keeper like that in imperious form and it doesn't half spread through the team.

Yes, he was probably called upon more than anyone would like today but it's what you have great keepers for. He was outstanding!

It was a good all round team performance against a more than useful Spurs side.

Defoe was introduced as the top scorer in the Premier League and expected to score more today but wasn't able to. Might be a bit prejudiced but we outplayed them throughout the team.

Stats revealed Tim made 14 saves in the match which is the highest in a game since stats began. ( most of them world class )

Whilst Krul made some stunning saves, you have to say one or two of them he shouldn't have been allowed to make - Spurs finishing was so poor. It speaks volumes that they have had the most shots on Target of any team this season but have fewer goals than everyone bu the bottom few clubs. So I actually don't think yesterday was fluke - it was a long running problem for Spurs + an inspired goalkeeping display!

I'm no expert on Spurs but I think that too few of their chances fell to Soldado. He is a great finisher but we kept him out of the game for the most part. Erikson definitely should have scored his opportunity and I guarantee that if that had been Soldado we'd have conceded there. Not that it matters as it wasn't and he didn't. Great couple of wins for us in the last 2 weeks. Let's just hope we can continue it after the international break

Soldado seems to be out of touch right now to me, if he was on form we would have lost regardless of how well Krul was playing.

The team made sure he knew what a good game he'd had, they were all over him after the final whistle.

A good day all round really, great win and three points and prior to the game all the Spurs fans I met were saying what happy memories they had of our games against each other and of their visits up here.

The son of one of the guys that spoke to me was in awe of meeting a Newcastle supporter ( after the tales his pa had told him about us ) and wanted my autograph.

He didn't have the £5 on him that I charge for autographs though, so he didn't get it.

I think we've known that Krul is a great shot stopper. I think where he is less good is in commanding his area and some of his decision making on crosses.

Krul was obviously the outstanding player and I thought Gouffran was very, very good too. Other than that, I don't think anyone really stood out but you worked well as a team.

Eriksen and Paulinho probably should've done better with their chances regardless of how good Krul's saves were but it's been the story of our season. We didn't attack crosses well enough, we could've done better with a couple of chances, the 'keeper made some great saves and it just didn't quite fall for us again yesterday. Most of our fans seem to be suicidal at the moment but I think it's just a matter of time until everything falls into place for us.

Just think a bit of patience is required. A lot of new players and still adjusting to life without Bale. The game plan for the last few years, quite rightly, has been give him as much ball as possible. Man U did it with Ronaldo, and they had to adjust after he left. The Spurs squad is laden with talent now and once they develop a pattern of play etc, I think you'll be a real handful. I'm glad we caught you away now because I think you may be a different animal later in the season. Table isn't too bad, 3 points of 2nd! At some point like you say things will start to click.

Its not a bad squad is it!

    1 Gomes
    24 Friedel
    25 Lloris
    56 Archer
    .
    Defenders
    2 Walker
    3 Rose
    4 Kaboul
    5 Vertonghen
    6 Chiriches
    16 Naughton
    20 Dawson
    35 Fryers
    .
    Midfielders
    7 Lennon
    8 Paulinho
    11 Lamela
    14 Holtby
    15 Capoue
    17 Townsend
    19 Dembélé
    21 Chadli
    22 Sigurdsson
    23 Eriksen
    30 Sandro
    .
    Forwards
    9 Soldado
    10 Adebayor
    18 Defoe

Yeah I think so too. I also think the most significant improvement we'll see is across all competitions as we have a stronger squad than before. We haven't exactly seen our squad tested too much so far as the cup games we've had have been relatively easy although we've done all we've needed to so far and coped with most injuries without any problems.

We do have weaknesses in our squad though with only 1 proper left back, who's been injured for most of the season now, and whilst Friedel's a good 'keeper I think his age is catching up to him now plus Lloris' speed and judgement is crucial to the high line we play.

Anyway good luck with the rest of the season, if anything you guys are proof that it can take awhile to get all the new players to settle, you made quite a few changes in January but haven't always looked so convincing since. Looks like it's coming together for you guys now though.

Let's be fair if you had won against Newcastle and West Ham you would be top of the league, as said earlier you are going to give someone an absolute hiding soon.

I actually have to disagree there, I think Soldado has been very poor this season and has been the key to why Spurs are struggling to finish off chances. Take out his Penalties and he's only scored 1 goal in the Prem despite having quite a few chances - certainly suggesting he's not worth the massive amount they paid for him.

He'll probably come good though, in fairness.

Thought Spurs played really well in the 2nd half and we certainly rode our luck. I too think that very soon someone is in for a hammering against them.

Congratulations to Newcastle on a deserved win. You knew what you had to do and did it perfectly. While we dominated the second half, it was a combination of brilliant keeping from Krul and poor finishing from us. If our finishing had been better, we would have deserved a point or three. As it was, you deserved the win.

As to Soldado: his miss on an open header early turned the game, IMO. In a game where he finally got decent service, he didn't get the job done. And yet...he's still one of our best four forwards. He's been involved in most of our goals and is clearly a very good player. My thought at the moment is if we get our best players used to each other and playing an open game, maybe Holtby, Eiriksen, Lamela, Soldado, Paulinho, Sandro, Rose, Vertonghen, Chiriches and Walker, we could be scoring three or four most games...

    If.

Hell, the Spurs coaching staff hung around till he'd left the field so that they could congratulate him. The performance simply demanded recongition.

That's really saying something about Krul and the Spurs staff in general. Everybody connected with Spurs was great on the day. Great before the game, great during the game, and great after the game in defeat.
