Some people can afford to and some people simply can't. It's an expensive hobby being a football fan, especially one if you support a top Prem team. You come across as being wise so you should know the realities a lot of people face in todays day. I'd love to take the Mrs out to a game, but how much will that realistically cost? I live in London so travelling won't be a big issue, but paying for tickets and food makes it an expensive day out. Unless I'm lucky enough to get the cheapest tickets, the actual day out would be more expensive than going out to the theatre! Football was suppose to be for the working class, it's now become more expensive than the theatre!

I'm not having a go at people for not going to games.I'm just saying it's very easy to join a campaign when the consequences of it are never going to affect you

It's a difficult one and major action needs to be made by the fans to get back into control. It's the fans that have invested heavily so that the changes were able to be made, and it's payback time now. If you're going to promise something then you have fullfill it, so far I have seen little of the big promises they made when this whole venture kicked off many years ago.

Ahh ... argumentum ad populum. Nice to see.

Exactly the point I'm making, thank you. It shouldn't be such a massive shock to see a football fan talking without spewing vitriol, shouting, or otherwise being a complete moron.

It's rather sad that most football fans make this guy the exception rather than the rule, don't you think?

The only people who will be taking action and boycotting buying pies, pints and programmes will be the fans at the stadium not someone who likes a youtube video but lives in Malaysia,Vietnam etc.
Not buying stuff at the ground wouldn't affect me as I very rarely buy anything anyway and I hardly ever buy a programme. The only thing I buy regularly is The Gooner.

I think that this is a very fair point, but at some point, it turned into a middle-class pastime and not a working-class one. It was probably about the time that the cinema and music concerts went mad too. prior to the 60's the stars did not earn anything like the salaries they do now. At some point winning became more important to the average fan than good sense.
