I'm looking for a real reaction from our guys on Monday after a very disappointing display on Friday I want to see the guys rip into the Seaweeds like a table topping team and produce a strong performance and a clear win
Jack Cork said that getting beaten at home was hard for the team to take. The best way to overcome that is 3 points away. Happy New Year everyone,
Don't be so sure that Fonte will be back for this one as he does have a knock!! Martin did OK against Brizzle so he will be ok. Brighton will try and swamp Martin if he does play but he is more than capable of taking care of Craig smith or what ever his name is. Saints are missing some sparkle though. Lallana in particular has gone right off the boil. He is not playing much of a supporting role at the moment he just can't seem to get into the game. Brighton will try and emulate Brizzle and close us down. It is time we learn how to over come these teams that are successful at doing that. We need more in form players shooting and doing something more in front of goal. Happy new year Fran
Fonte has got a broken toe and has had it since before the Pompey game, he has been playing with injections the previous games!
I did not get the impression that Adkins was fully confident he would return for the Brighton game - sure he started off saying he would, but later in the interview he sounded more cagey. Agree with St Bendy that we could do with Connolly up front because I think we have missed his intelligence and Guly just is not consistant enough for my liking. If Fonte is back, I think we can get a draw or possibly a close-fought win. Otherwise, if think we can best hope for a draw.
I would dearly love: 1. We beat Brighton fairly comfortably and put the jitters to bed. 2. We get a disputed penalty and Poyet gets sent to the stands.
It would be a surprise if there wasn't a Poyet incident at some point during or after the game. Fancy 2-0 Saints. My rational.....upset at loosing home record, its Brighton, and we have to win away at some point.
I've only just noticed that Brighton are down in 16th place. Now granted they are only four points behind 7th place, but a few more poor results for them (they've lost four on the bounce, all without scoring) and they'll have to start worrying about what's going on below them.
Let's hope we bounce back like we normally do. Three points will be most welcome after 8 pts from a possible 21 in the last 7 games. It is good to get another game under our belts so quickly after the disappointing result on Friday night. I'm hopeful more than confident but I'm going to go for a narrow 2-1 win.
With the problems they have putting out a full team and bench we should win but no game is easy particularly a derby match. Fingers crossed! Can't baer the thought of Poyet bragging after the final whistle.
Hard to believe but even after the disappointing results of the last few weeks we still haven't lost 2 league games in a row under Nigel Adkins. I don't think we'll lose that record to Brighton, and I reckon a bounce back is on the agenda. Not going to predict a score as I've been rubbish for ages but a Saints win please.
I would like to see connolly start as guly's away performances have not been up to scratch and would like to see de ridder to start again. With all Brighton's suspensions and injuries we really need to win this game however i'm not so sure.
I think Connolly, Hammond and Harding will come into the side, but I am not sure De Ridder will start. Difficult one to predict; Coventry beat BHA but then they also beat Bristol City the match before... Mind you if I had asked how many points would you think Man U, Man C, Spurs, West Ham, Boro and ourselves would pick up over the New Year's weekend I doubt many would have said two!
There's no mention on the OS or the BBC website that Morgan is suspended (as I've already said, i thought it was Cork who was one yellow away from a ban going into the Bristol game, not Morgan)
He has 5 yellows so misses the Brighton game... http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/Discipline/0,,10280~201110280,00.html
