I would be fully behind changing how we play and playing a style more suited to Gabbiadini. At this point however it would involve a major change in our personnel though (something I guess many would argue we need anyway). According to that article about player salaries Gabbiadini is our highest earner and due to our style we aren't getting anything from him. It would be much easier and simpler to have sold him and stuck with our current style and brought in another striker more in the Austin mould, or brought in another winger to feed Austin.
Hughes says yesterday that Gabbi sees spaces and makes the right move, but he is too quiet and has to talk to his team mates. Says two things really: Hughes recognises Gabbi's talent and also recognises that the other players need to be told and aren't good enough to spot him. We've had other players like that.....fan favourites who don't succeed because they are too clever for the other players. Interesting that Hughes sees something in Gallagher...a more old fashioned type of player if you like.
Yes, but peoples main point about Gabbis movement is clever runs to get in behind defences when the midfield have the ball 35/40 yards from goal. Austin is better when the ball is wide and finding that yard in the box, although Gabbi isn't exactly bad at that either. I don't really rate any of our strikers that highly but Austin clearly is the most effective with the way we play. It is too early to judge Ings properly. Gabbi had that 10 game spell when he first joined but since then (over a season) he hasn't done enough to be justifying his wage, you can put that down to Pellegrino's style but Hughes seems to have him as a bench player as well and not fitting into his style, so I think it would've been best for all parties for him to have moved on. I guess he still could as European window closes tomorrow, but seems unlikely after Hughes said nobody else was leaving.
He is right with that. When he isn’t passed the ball after a run, he’s not one to berate, he just kind of looks hangdog and gets a bit demoralised. If he berated people they might change that a bit. Edit: I do realise that Gabbi does also have “resting hangdog face”.
But we are still not winning games and still a bit **** (half and half seems fair). Changing our style of play seems to be something we are desperate for. Austin scoring goals hasn't done us much good for two years so I'm all in favour of adjusting to the Gabbi way of playing. A scoring mid would be welcome as would goals from redmond and Mo too.
I agree, but I don't think it is quite as simple as "well just change the style then". I don't think we have the players to suit Gabbi. Armstrong might be that creative number 10 which is what I believe Gabbi needs to thrive, but reports from Celtic fans and what I have seen so far don't indicate that. We would need to change a fair few of the current squad and bring in different types of players, which will take time. Then once they are here implement the new style into the remaining players and integrate the new ones in, which also takes time. Obviously our goal first and foremost is to stay up so I'm not so sure the club would be willing to do that, and especially not now as we can't bring new players in til January at the earliest.
Gabbi and Austin both, in different ways, have a strikers knack of getting into position. Neither are the problem, imo. First, we need more than one player moving in front of the ball; that can be easily fixed on the training ground. Second, we need midfielders who can look up and read the game quicker. I think that can be fixed too, with the players we've got.

Yes, that was dodgy, but Bednarek did well twice in that play. I can’t believe Charlie missed that open goal chance that Gallagher set up for him! Also worth pointing out that Redmond got the ball, before crossing for the goal, from a lovely cross field ball from Elyounoussi.
or perhaps not a Chinese martial art then, not being stereotypical, I'm sure Judi or Karate may be more appropriate.
