I agree entirely. The deflection off Cedric’s head wrongfooted Fraser and made it almost impossible to reach. Not the keeper’s fault.

 

I have to say this is a fairly good analysis of Saints. Too safe, nobody taking risks and gambling. MP knows what he wants to do but the players seem to be very slow to adapt to his coaching.

 

Yep, thought Phil Neville and Jenas summed us up very well there.

 

Thought the analysis on MOTD was quite interesting.

The pundits felt that we are not getting the best out of our team because although they are coached well they are too regimented and not creative enough. Moreover we commit players forward but not enough arrive in the box or show as an option in the final third [I can definitely agree with that last point].

Divided opinions on Forster and should he have saved Murray's header.

I'm the opposite with the Forster goal, first time I saw it thought it was bad, but not terrible. More I see it the worse it looks. The deflection off Cedric is very slight and if anything slows the ball down, not change the direction. Makes it more loopy but should give a keeper plenty of time to get across his line and save it, unless that keeper is Forster.

 

Indeed, I thought it was remarkably accurate. Woke me up actually.

Jordon Pickford or Peter Shilton would have came for the ball but "peggy" always hangs on the line.

 

Oh come on SotonOldBoy, if there was other keeper I'd have said had a shorter string than Fraser, then it is Peter Shilton. Great keeper, but rooted to his line at Saints.

No problem with people questioning Fraser on this goal (I'm about 60/40), but let's not throw comparisons that are nuts

 

It is essential that Saints fans have at least one player to blame for everything that goes wrong and into whom they can stick the knife at every opportunity. Fraser fits the bill perfectly whether he is at fault or not. It is just the way Saints fans are. They need someone to victimise. Sadly not one of his critics would say anything to his face. It is all quite cowardly.

 

Oh come on godders.........the display yesterday was not Saints best........people have their favourites as well as who they see as letting the side down. They are entitled to that opinion and quite frankly shouldn’t be criticised for having an opinion even if it appears to be a moan. Surely that is what makes a footy fan?

Just increased expectations for future development for the fans. Lot of people struggling with the lack of progression but hopefully our new owners will help with investment and to get us back moving forward

 

Not seen it yet but good to hear the analysis doesnt criticise MP as fixing players is potentially easier. Mirrors my thoughts. Risk free play needs to change. Players seem to be overly concerned with keeping ball and control of game. Having Dusan and Boufal on and playing like that is pointless. JWP was v disappointing for me in open play. Any blame for Central defenders allowing Murray vs Cedric for goal?

Mario return will help Obv but continuing problem with no credible central attacking midfielder and striker shortage.

Still we're only 3 points behind the mighty Liverpool who because it's their year are going to win the league, so it's not all bad.

 

We are doing worse than our expectations....which may suggest our expectations have been too high this season and the last. I know we have a tough period coming up when we play the better sides, but you have to play them sometime.....and I doubt we will lose every game because in general we are not leaking goals*. So far, so ok....ish.

His positioning was awful, his reaction was painfully slow. But what's new? The deflection was minimal and just made the ball loop slightly more, no way did it alter the direction of the ball to the extent where Forster was helpless. He was at fault, anyone other than an apologist can see that.
