Plus last year we were apparently 7th in chances created.

Virgil was a bit odd today. Very commanding for the most part, winning everything in the air, then seemingly having a brain fart with his forward balls. Some were truly dreadful by his standards. Might well have been a bit of frustration kicking in though.

You mean one tackled the other during a training game?

One has an injured foot, the other has a foot sized hole in their arse. Sounds more like a fight! <laugh>
    Pure speculation you understand. ;)

I pretty much agree with all this, but with the proviso that I'm still hopeful MP2 can be the man to turn us round.

We're not much of a team at the moment. So let's see the manager earn his corn and get us playing like one.

What if that meant dropping a big name or two? Could he survive that, our dressing room seems pretty strong on non match days.

Can't put my finger on what was wrong today, we just seem so lethargic and slow turning defence into attack. Whether it is vision, creativity, confidence or defensive-mindedness I am unsure.

The team selection was quite positive, however the outcome was not so attacking. Both teams cancelled each other out. Not a disaster but a little underwhelming. Thought Romeu looked a bit more tigerish today, I wonder if he had to take more responsibility for winning the ball back without Lemina.

Pellegrino has said as such, that there was a slight deflection off Cedric and the ball changed direction. Nobody is going to be able to shift their weight completely from one direction and move to another in less than the blink of an eye. So Fraser was just unlucky.

It took a touch, but didn't deviate that much. Should have saved it, he knows that.

Not really read any comments since we were 1-0 up and the second half kicked off.

I am on call and **** hit the fan with servers down etc 2 minutes into the second half, so just come back to the forum as all fixed now (...just think of the overtime :) ).

My thoughts on 47 mins of the game. We didn't lose, it was an away game and we looked ok in the first half, even if we did sit back after scoring. VVD & Wes looked good I thought, JWP was good, Boufal I thought did ok, and Davis did ok too. I haven't watched the second half yet, and from a cursory glance at this maybe I shouldn't lol. Fraser seems to be Mr Slow Motion man - I think that unlike other keepers, if he knows he isn't getting to it, he doesn't really bother.

We still march on and LL is on a roll, so if you don't want to get behind the team, get behind him...this could be the start of a long line of threads. Or maybe not ;)

I feel I'm alone on here but I didn't see Fraser at fault. The ball went into what looked like literally the top left square foot of the net after a significant deflection off Cedric's head yet Fraser still managed to get his hand to it, albeit over the line. Sometimes they can't be stopped.

What about the players who didn't break up the attack and who let the cross in? Do they get away scot free? Fraser's become the whipping boy for every goal, it seems. I seem to recall his being regarded as solely at fault for both the Newcastle goals the other week.

I sometimes think people see what they want to see. And yes, I do include myself in that.

It's getting a bit silly when (if I could be bothered to look) I bet I could find someone who has blamed the last three goals scored against Saints on our goalkeeper alone.

I posted earlier but this is precisely as I saw it in the ground and without a replay.

Looked to me like a slack defence which went to sleep and was frankly too easy for Brighton to fashion the chance. Thought it was poor how easily he won the header too.

As everyone knows I'm a big Fraser critic but my initial reaction was certainly that his defence let him down and it was so far in the corner that once he got across was hard to get enough on it to keep it out.

Again though, I stress I was at the other end and have not yet seen a replay. Might switch motd on minute actually n have a look if we've not been on yet.

It's on now, just seen a replay of the goal and I'm in two minds really. I can't really fault Forster for the goal but can understand why some think he should have saved it.
