I had forgotten, heh. Think it was £5 per goal over/under 50, to charity? I'm happy capping it at a maximum value of £25 or some such.

Schad, in order for Tadic or Redmond to use Gabby as the option we need to change our style, from a team that looks to cross the ball primarily to one that plays through the opposition. Instinctually, Gabby is that type of player. Boufal is that type of player. The rest don't seem to want to do it, or aren't capable. They don't have that vision and movement. They've shown that so many times it is easier to just get a really good lead striker. Gabby can play off that striker. Boufal can play that too [he has that much ability he could almost play within any style], and the rest will look for the tall guy to hit. But it's a big order. Players of Pelle's [or Lambert's before him] quality are not thick on the ground.

And yet Burnley have beaten Everton, Chelsea, and drawn with Liverpool and Spurs in that time. Burnley have far less ST and attacking players of quality then we have yet they manage to do well. Playing to your teams strengths regardless of calibre of player is key.

Saw the last 30mins: so did not have the adrenalin rush that l usually have in the build up to kick off. So from a somewhat dispassionate perspective l was struck by the poor standard of play from both teams. We clearly had the more skilful players but the inability at times to play a simple pass was staggering. Link up play was pretty much non existent and what was most disappointing was the lack of desire to try to push on and win the game: it was there for the taking, but the collective leadership was missing. Saw the goals at the end of the match: FF was so slow in anticipating the header: he lacks the agility to quickly reposition himself and react. He is not good enough for this league: his size and lack of agility works against him. MP2 does not seem to have the answers either: am not seeing any improvement over last season: if anything, on average, we might actually be worse overall. The line-up today actually looked good on paper but the realty was somewhat different.

Do we have strengths going forward? Gabbiadini's runs which we're not finding? We can't out possession teams to score, we can't rip teams to shreds with incisive passing, and we can't use our previous strengths of direct play in behind to Mane/Long, or direct to a big CF, or down the wing and crossing to a big CF.
    It's tough to watch.

No vitality!! Pedestrian pace throughout and not able to inject pace when required.

Re Forster, I’m pretty sure the ball was going across him but a touch off Cedric pushed it near post. Not much he could do at that point.

At least TLL you have the next match thread.

Your title needs some work though. Am just not buying the goals galore bit. Maybe some reverse psychology for the next one.

Not his greatest game but no better or worse than anyone else really. Gabbiadini must get frustrated though.

Lots of people were despondent before the game, so a draw away from home isn't all bad news. We have to accept that we aren't the most exciting team that even we've been....this season will be mixed and we will finish mid-table. We are not going to be relegated or make Europe, so we have to hope MP2 and the board are clear about what we need in the summer (or perhaps even a nifty purchase in January).

We don't know that. If we didn't score from that free kick, then it's a completely different match from that moment on...

But anyway, good for him for scoring a goal, but that doesn't make him any better at spotting Manolo's runs. Why I mentioned him is because i vividly remember a moment from the match when Manolo made a very good run, and Davis saw him, then hesitated, then hesitated some more, and then decided to pass but Manolo was now deep in an offside position.

Just nipped to the pub before the F1 to catch up with some of my Brighton mates who were at the game.

They ALL said, without exception, that they were very confused as to why, after dominating and scoring after 6 minutes, we didn't look to press on to get two or three, but then decided to sit deep and try and defend a 1-0 for 84 minutes.

Sorry, but slightly under-par players or not, that's down to the manager.

It flummoxed me at the time, also flummoxes me now.

They also said that from 70 minutes onwards, all our defenders looked knackered.
