It's definitely more about Bruce than the players, though I'm sure he won't realise that. He could probably turn the attacking potential of most players into something limp.
I don't agree with this, I've had enough of Bruce now for example but I have my own mind and it's taken me a long while to accept that enough is enough, I'm sick of bloody Huddlestone being played despite him virtually never having any impact on games yesterday was enough for me, a one legged Meyler might have got his act together in the second half now he will be pissed off or lose confidence being subbed for Bruces pet
True enough. Many of the shortsighted will be thinking 'they lost by a single goal at the league leaders, what's the problem? The problem isn't currently the results, it's the feeble performances and looking absolutely clueless as to how to launch a meaningful attack.
To some degree I think you're right. There has been a clique who have had their knives out for Bruce from the start. However there's also a growing number of people like me who have steadily lost confidence in him due to the negative and frightened attitude he has instilled into the players. Our defensive, ponderous style of play is "the Bruce style", that has been proved over many games. Our lack of attacking ideas has become typical under his tenure and he must take responsibility for that. I like Bruce. He is a great bloke, he's popular in the game, he attracts good players and he's a good defensive coach. Unfortunately: He is clueless when it comes to our attack His tactical skills are poor. He can't get the players to pass. Our meagre average percentage of possession per game seems irrelevant to him. And unforgivably there is evidence every week that basic training ground dead-ball skills and tactics are missing. Phelan must also take a sizeable portion of the blame for a lot of this and it does make you wonder exactly what our coaches do.
Let me remind you all of what happened when Newcastle went down to the championship a few seasons ago! They like us kept a very strong team for the championship and absolutely ran away with this league! If you ask the fans of the other championship teams I guarantee they would take our team in a flash over there own, we possess more then enough to be winning the vast majority of games but until something of the following changes ie manager, tactics, formations, attacking attitude then we will carry on looking poor like we are. Newcastle looked like exactly what they were and that was a premier league team in the championship and we should be aiming to be the same. And don't compare us to other teams like Blackburn and Fulham who came down and struggled because they were relegated from the premier league with poor teams, we were relegated with a squad which should have survived comfortably pretty much like Newcastle. There response and ours so far are total opposites. Lots funny because the other teams would swap our squad for there's in a flash and I think there are many city fans who would swap our manager for there's!
Go on then, I'll indulge you - exactly which Championship managers would you swap for Bruce "in a flash"?
So in what way do you think he's better than Bruce who has achieved promotion from this division on multiple occasions? Is his distinctly average performance at this level with Watford not worth reflecting on? And didnt they finish below us last season? And he got them relegated after just 1 season in the premier League. Bruce did better than that with us. And even if you do think he's better, that's 1. Keep them coming.....
He was only at Watford for one season and they achieved their highest finish for three years. Last season they played better football than us, with an entire team that cost less than Livermore and with a decent squad I think he'd do very well. Personally, I'd also be quite happy to swap for Hughton, Slade, or Karanka.
It was still 11th. In 2 of the 3 seasons since they've finished 2nd and 3rd. And they finished below us. And Bruce didnt spend much in our first season after promotion and we stayed up pretty comfortably. And that's an interesting stance seeing as though 2 of them have, to my knowledge, never achieved promotion out of this division.
That's because a new owner came in a loaned them half a Serie A team and half a La Liga team. Bruce spent over £24m in his first Premier League season (McGregor, Huddlestone, Sagbo, Jelavic and Long), completely different league. Neither has Mourinho.
What's funny about that? Doesnt it tell you everything that said owner didnt think he was up to the job? He spent the bulk of that in January when we were already well positioned. He's never managed in this league.
They didn't think Zola was up to it either, but he's another you can add to the list of managers I'd be happy with (you can leave Evans off the list though).
A shocking game between 2 teams that looked like bottom 2 than top 2. The goal summed up the game. Awful mistakes. The game deserved to be 0 - 0. Zero entertainment sadly. We move on thankfully now to Cardiff and a chance to put this right.
Football reporter Philip Buckingham runs an eye past Hull City's performances in the 1-0 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium on Saturday September 12, 2015. Allan McGregor: Kept out Stephens before being beaten by Hemed inside the opening minutes and then made a couple more decent saves when Brighton were dominant. Barely called into action after the break and defeat no fault of his. 6 Moses Odubajo: Enjoyed a competitive tussle with the in-form Lua Lua down his flank and won his fair share of battles with pace getting him out of holes. Still yet to really click into a good understanding with Elmohamady to make City a threat out wide. 6 Michael Dawson (starman): The best player in black and amber as he prevented the scoreline from taking a turn for the worse. A brilliant block kept out Kayal in the closing stages and he helped restore a sense of calm to a wobbling defence. 6 Curtis Davies: Could not prevent Brighton from taking an early lead with a scruffy early goal but performed well enough once he found his feet. The lively front two of Baldock and Hemed were contained after making hay early on. 6 Sam Clucas: Given the nod ahead of Robertson at left-back but not entirely convincing up against former City favourite Rosenior. Too often left exposed with the lack of natural cover in front of him. No faulting his endeavour, though, never shirked. 6 David Meyler: The chief victim of City's woeful opening half hour. Others could have been replaced just as easily but the Irishman could have few complaints when off the pace by a distance. A booking, upending Stephens, typified his sluggish display. 5 Isaac Hayden: The opening half of the game passed the Arsenal rookie by and though he bolstered up City's midfield with greater physicality, this was another day to learn lessons. Eventually withdrawn as Aluko's arrival brought a reshuffle. 5 Ahmed Elmohamady: A 100th consecutive league start for City represented a fabulous milestone but this was no way to bring it up. Worked Stockdale from a tight angle, one of his few genuine openings. Uncomfortable in the 4-2-3-1 shape when unable to come from deep. 5 Mo Diame: Given a licence to work in between the lines and create a spark for his side but saw much too little of the ball until late on. Came as close to any City player when forcing a low save from Stockdale but came up short of his high standards. 5 Abel Hernandez: Not one opportunity of note for the striker over 90 minutes. A telling statistic given his supposed value. The hard-working Uruguayan kept on running, chasing long causes, but was ultimately let down by team-mates. 6 Chuba Akpom: Back on a ground where he once scored a hat-trick for Arsenal's under-21s, the striker could not repeat those heroics. Hit the side netting with a deflected shot but often crowded out by Brighton and frustrated. Needs better service. 6 Subs: Tom Huddlestone (for Meyler 30) Pushed himself into the Cardiff plans when steadying City's shape in midfield. 6 Sone Aluko (for Hayden 65) A shame he was not introduced sooner as the Tigers lacked an outlet on the left. 6 Greg Luer (for Akpom 81) No fairytale for the Brighton boy during a brief, fruitless late cameo. 6 http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hull...tory-27789156-detail/story.html#ixzz3lhln3lT5
