He knew his stuff. He knew that was the last gasp for that team and he left the club right in the **** when he retired, all for his own glorification
Not looking great for you but it is onl All the managers have had 100s of millions to rebuild. Can't blame bacon face forever
This is a tough one. How much would any manager plan for a future they were not part of? Even if they wanted to, i think sub-consciously, they wouldn't be giving it anywhere near even 60% of the thought they would have previously. And, to be fair, any manager coming in would probably have wanted to stamp their own identity on the team anyway.
Yawn. People said the same thing about him in 2002 when he first planned to retire. Team was dilapidated, Stam and Schmeichel not replaced, Veron evidence of declining judgement, Blanc a last ditch effort to paper over the cracks etc etc. You can guarantee that if he'd retired in 2002 we wouldn't have won six titles and a CL over the next 11 years. And people would have said the same thing, left when we were in decline, couldn't cope with Wenger and so on.
Is Kenny Dalglish blamed for the fact that Liverpool haven't won the league in 30 years because he also left them right in the ****? No, thought not. It's utter nonsense tripped out by scousers who fail to see the irony in what they say.
It's stupid and it's crass. Fergie explained why he decided to retire at that time. It's also not like he did a smash and grab job.
Yeah. The trigger for his retirement was the death of his wife’s sister. He didn’t choose to retire at that given time to leave behind an ageing team and glorify the magnitude of his achievements. You’re talking ****e mate, it’s unlike you.
She died a few weeks or months before he announced his retirement. After she passed away he decided that he should be spending more time with his wife.
Sorry, am I getting this arse about face. Are you talking about the first time he said he would retire? Just wondered if it was that time, what changed his mind to continue.
No, when he actually retired. The first time it was his wife who told him to carry on as she didn't want him at home all the time!
One of my very best mates is a die-hard united supporter and also a football reporter for a red top. That is most certainly not his view and no-one could love your team more than him. I'll bow to his inside knowledge. It isn't me making it up or postulating it due to my loathing of your club. Remember, Stan, it's the club, not the majority of its supporters. Ask Swarbs, who's met me on several occasions
