All FA Cup games are potential banana skins especially when you get to round 5. Man City almost slipped on one against Watford. Lol. No disrespect though But other than sheff weds and charlton we could not have asked for an easier one at this stage. We shall play our FA Cup team that has done us so well so far and i expect at least a reply from the game. Looking forward to it. It comes just 4 days after our PL home game against Southampton.
I can't see why we can't attempt to win the F.A. Cup this Season. Man City play Chelsea so one of them has to go out, and the same applies to Arsenal and Liverpool, so that's 2 of the big favourites going out already (let's hope the winner of both games play each other in the next round ). You look at the teams left in it, there's no reason why we can't win it at all. Or at least get to the Final. I'll be disappointed if we go out against Brighton.
I think it depends how we've done in the games leading up to the cup, if we go on a little run and win a couple and extend our lead over the bottom 3, then I'd expect us to field an almost full strength team. If we're safe then why not try and go as far as we can in the cup and get into Europe. Yes we'll need a nice draw but it's now becoming a very realistic chance. I think a team that consists of the likes of Davies, Livermore, Huddlestone, Aluko, Brady should have enough to get past albeit a very good Brighton side
Nobody questions his business. If he wants to play in Europe, he'll play in Europe, he'll do it his way, and no one can question that. Jeez where you been the last 6 months?
Ahh just had a quick google, never actually realised, however, to me it now seems obvious why Allam wants the name change. It would appear to be the best way to exploit and market the club better as we need our commerical income to increase. To be fair to Allam, it's a pretty good idea. (PS sorry for bringing the name change into it)
Yes, why didn't I think of it. This is a marvellous scheme by Allam to bypass FFP. Hull City AFC registered huge losses and a colossal debt. Hull Tigers broke even and can compete in Europe should they feel so inclined. You can't deny the man is a genius, pure and simple.
I don't mean so he can rule the world, just start by slowly cutting our losses. The only problem is that, he sees football clubs as a business, if he had information that by changing the name of Allam Marine would increase his revenue, then he would. It appears that he's applying the same theory to football and it hasn't gone too well. But it's not necessarily a bad thing! Would be very surprised if he doesn't update the badge for next season, to me it's starting to look a bit old!
Because some people aren't going to renew their season tickets if the name changes and because the vast majority have said they will never buy Hull Tigers branded product from our already appalling club shop. He's alienating his core customers, while chasing some pipe dream. The motivation for changing the name is not revenue at all, it's the desire to see 'City' removed from our name, due to his spat with the council. He made no secret of that when we met him and bizarrely, he made no secret of it when talking to the Premier League either, I just pray he's also done the same when talking to the FA.
From his perspective, I think he'll believe that other people will buy season passes as long as we're doing well, get some decent merchandise and more people will buy it. The spat with the council has been a major problem, but they seem be getting off scot free. To me, it's seems like there's a stubbornness and arrogance on both sides with no mediation in the middle or any sort of compromise. I cannot believe though that it has nothing to due with revenue, the Old Man is far from stupid.
don't be stupid you're making yourself look daft - if it's such a good idea why didn't woolworths, blockbuster, hmv, etc etc etc change their name to get additional revenue
I'm merely trying to look at it from a different perspective. This board is very anti-Allam, which is very understandable. Personally, I understand both sides of the argument and for the record I'm neither for or against the change. The way I see it is that the vast majority are in a similar position and just want to see their local club succeed at the highest level possible. People against the name change will argue that you're just selling your soul, which to be honest isn't far off the truth. I will always be grateful to the Allams for saving us when we were in a time of real jeopardy. Quick question to everyone on here, would you have turned down Allam's money if he said that he would rename the club to Hull Tigers once we were promoted and hence seen the club liquidated and closed?
