Here is the table after the latest round of matches. Some unpredictable results such as both north London clubs losing and the Hammers and Juventus, drawing at home made it difficult to tip with a proportionally high number of points being won on the PSG game, which most posters picked up points on (apart from myself). Highest scorer was our guest from the BBC which may cause alarm bells to ring in NZ, cutting the lead down to less than a hundred. Second highest was my own score of 101, having had faith in FC Cologne (which i had to pick up points on ). Matej moves up into third, and the next 10 places are all quite close as we come down to the closing stages. A late run and anything is possible.​

Rather an average scoring week on here with no reall massive scores. Pride of the day goes to Hackney with 108 moving him into seventh. Mrs Fez also did well with 99. Seb moved up into fourth just behind his brother Matej - only 10 points difference there. Lawro continues to close the gap on NZ in poll position. With regard to Lawro he does sometimes tip matches which we don't, and also doesn't tip our matches which go outside the Premiership - so basically he's not exactly in direct competition with us. His Watford scores are doubled just like ours but I have no idea whatsoever where his joker would go - I always place it on his Liverpool tip because he played for them - so again he's not entirely on an equal basis with us. As a result of this I leave him in there for fun but will withdraw him from the final table and note his final total separately - so whatever happens the 'winner' will be one of us. This does not apply in the FA Cup predictions league because there he tips exactly the same way as we do - so he can win that one, though I plan to prevent that ​

Is your comment on Mark Lawrenson to reassure me, Cologne? It doesn't really matter because Matej and Seb are closing in.

 

I've done this before NZ - ie. pulled Lawro at the last minute for the final table. It's the only way of doing it because he doesn't tip exactly the same matches that we do - we only include him for the sake of fun, just to see how he measures up. The FA Cup is different because there he tips under exactly the same conditions as the rest of us. Should we be relegated then he disappears from our league anway because he only tips Premiership matches.

A very high scoring round on here where it was possible to get 90+ points and still move down in the table. No less than 6 scores over the hundred mark have led to things hotting up a bit amongst the chasing group. Pride of place goes to Hackney with 153 moving him up to fourth on the shoulders of Seb who got 148 and moved into third, only about 80 points off the leadership with 3 rounds left. On the football front it's beginning to look very likely that we will be tipping championship football next year ​

I must be unique I got 90 points and stayed in 20th place.
On the positive side I made up 59 points on Yorkie but I suspect my mission is rather like Watfords trying to avoid relegation....
At least I will be in the Championship next year

With just 2 rounds left this is how the new table looks and whilst NZ still has a good lead Seb and Matej have narrowed it down to about 60. Matej moved up to fourth with the week's second highest score of 91. The highest of the week was 106 by theghost - I sensed the rattle of chains as he spirited past me ! On the whole a low scoring week with few of us getting above the 30s and 40s. We now know for certain that we will have to get used to tipping the Championship next season ​

Apologies here but the new league table will be a bit later in coming out this week. The reason is that the German state of NRW (where I live) = North Rhine Westphalia, has its state elections today which will eat up a lot of time on my side.

Something of an earthquake at the top this week with Seb timing his run perfectly with only one round remaining. In what was a very low scoring week a joker placed on the Hammers drawing 2-2 with Man City made all the difference. So against all the odds we now have a genuine battle at the top with only a hundred points separating the top 5. Second highest of the day was 88 by Scully. Elsewhere it was moderate fair for most of us, and disastrous for a few of us with some record low scores cropping up. Just one round left - so which teams are already on their summer holidays and which still have something to play for ?​

Well done Seb. I have been rubbish lately. My correct prediction that we will beat Chelsea 5-0 will get me back on top, though.

Final League Table
​

So, we have come to the end of our mini marathon, and, after some twists and turns at the end we have a new champion. Congratulations to NZHorn and also to Seb for making such a fight of it at the end. As indicated our expert from the BBC retired for the final round. Andy must live with his sons being 2nd and 3rd for the next year.

In the end Lawro finished up with 2,132 points having scored 46 in the last round.

 

Congratulations to NZ who clung on to his lead despite strong attempts to catch him from our younger members. Well done to everyone that remembered when games were or not being played. Not sure what has happened to our northern posters who have not been levelled up. Biggest thanks though has to go to Colognehornet who makes this all possible for us to enjoy, or otherwise. Perhaps he will let us know when he needs a new pencil.
