I don't see the EU breaking up. It will reform but not break up. The UK is doing a very good job of showing the rest of the EU how the member countries are better off working and reforming as a collective.
I agree There will be issues like Turkey, immigration, eastern europe and banking that will be serious issues but nothing that will lead to a break up. Today the former head of the WTO said UK will be significantly worse off under no deal WTO rules mainly due to any agreement we make being on the basis of a 60 mil population instead of 500 mil. If he is wrong and UK flourishes then I guess the argument is other countries will be tempted to leave
It's basic economy of scale, we're in a weaker position negotiating any trade deal with any country than we would have been as part of the EU collective. It's a simple and common sense fact.
It's amazing how many folk seem to genuinely expect this to have gone better. If it was easy to leave the EU and get great trade deals then why have an EU? It's very much looking like the blueprint I expected in terms of the mess. Hopefully we'll have somebody better in to manage the thing before long (not the ****ing pigeon stroker) and it'll be a little better.
Ah, but you forget that we're British. We're a special case - we've an Empire, don't you know? We colonised half the world. We invented everything. We drink tea. We play cricket - a byword for fair play. When we wake up and realise it's not the 19th century any longer, maybe there will be a sensible discussion about this.
