They obviously think we’ll back down, which we probably will because Benn and Co will force us too. I often wonder what Benn Snr would have done.
We could just leave - and leave the Irish border open - if the EU want one they could erect one and police it themselves. I still don’t get why this doesn’t seem to be an option.
If we leave we’ll still have to arrange some kind of deal with the EU , they are saying they won’t discuss anything until we agree on an arrangement for the Border. The EU won’t allow an open border with a non EU country . I agree though we’re going to have to sort something out that everyone can agree to , they are still posturing in my view hoping the remainers get there way.
I’m a Remainer mate and I just want this thing over and done with ASAP now. Re: borders; what is there between the EU and Monaco or San Marino? That should reapply to Gibraltar and Northern Ireland.
please log in to view this image They were never really interested in doing a deal. Let’s just get out of it
*** BREXIT 50P CONFIRMED *** Have you heard the news? HM Treasury have confirmed that a new Brexit 50p will enter circulation after the UK's departure from the EU. Latest from the royal mint … only thing they have to do is select 2019 [ date we leave] or [date they mint2020]
Andorra.. has 1 road in and 1 road out at each end a massive customs presence ..been there a load of times, entering you get stopped if you look like a commercial vehicle first time I went 2002 was in my DOBLO subsequent visits showed a notice in my windscreen stating in French Spanish and English I was a non commercial … and they quickly visually inspected. Exiting is a lot slower on the French side every vehicle is stopped questioned about how long been there where you stayed have you any thing to declare they search one randomly, as soon as finished next one is pulled over … also had a "second team" looking out for nervous/suspicious …. my delay mid morning/12 oclock was about [almost end of busiest period] 15 mins. later visits after 2pm -330pm delay about 3-5 mins ….. IT WORKED, Switzerland works although not in currency they maintain some BP's as does Luxemborg and Belgian French German customs are VERY ACTIVE TO VEHICLES LEAVING Luxembourg. In about 50 visits I was pulled 4 times by the Belgians ….. on 1 visit they didn't know what Bio DIESEL was I had 150 litre+ in the 25 litre plastic cans [ used to put white spirit around top and pour a bit in the can … didn't smell like diesel then! it all burns …………………]
The backstop was never going to be temporary. That is now clear to see because they want N.Ireland to stay in the EU. We did great to turn down the deal and great to make a new deal that forces the EU to publicly say their true purpose of the backstop. Now lets get out all together. May tried to leave the EU while trying to remain a good neighbour. But this is how the EU want to build their relationship with us? Feck them I say.
SOMETHING GOOD MUST BE HAPPENING.... Stock market gone up today had a shock when I logged into my portfolio at 1630 and gone up 7% since yesterday!
Sterling has shot up this last 24 hours whch is not necessarily a good thing if the constituents of your portfolio earnings are expressed in dollars like major oil and strategic metal mining conglomerates. If listed on the FTSE, that tends to depress their stock market value when converted back to sterling - can be a double edge sword. If despite that your portfolio has gone up 7% in 24 hours I'd take some immediate profit and walk away. I tend to go for market value principles as opposed to the more cautious dividend based investments, but "fortune favours the brave" is overstated in this game. Be sensible (boring?) and live to fight another day - you can always re-invest your cash windfall later, or even spend it like me.
there has been a slow decline in share prices over the past 2 weeks or so around 27th was about 7400 … Monday about 7200 going down above 7100 Friday was a big surge went up to about 7250 after a couple days of steady gains … LOVED RBS and Llyods .. bought a load a few weeks ago … divi script was at low point .. added best total for yonks Llyods now approaching 6 month high [ bought 80% of these shares below 63p of these more than half around 48 -50p ] my portfolio is divided into 3 ......….speculative are about £ ??? Today I have been watching the proceedings for the Queens speech. Before and after the speech, there were interviews with members.... Joanna Cherry (SNP) Caroline Lucas (Greens) Ed Davey (Lib not Dems) Hillary Benn (Labour) Anna Soubry (ChangeUK) and all were asked the same question: If Boris does bring a deal with the EU back to parliament, will they vote for it. Their answers.... Joanna Cherry - "No because Scotland voted to remain in the EU. If Scotland is taken out of the EU against our will, we will have a second independence referendum." Caroline Lucas - "No and there should be a no confidence vote in this government and I would support Jeremy Corbyn to act as PM as he is the leader of the opposition." Ed Davey - "No because we are a party against Brexit. We don't want to leave the EU. We want to scrap the whole thing." Hillary Benn - "No unless the deal includes to remain in the customs union, which will solve the Irish border issue and protect our interests." Anna Soubry - "No because remaining in the EU is in the UK's best interest and I don't trust Boris." They all said no without even knowing what the deal would be. So no matter how good the deal could be, all parties opposite the government will vote against it anyway. What an absolute piss take It is extremely clear that parliament will continue to do whatever they can to stop Brexit and to frustrate the referendum outcome and the winners of that vote, which is the majority of those MP's constituents. I hope they all get punished at the next election. That's if parliament ever have the guts to accept one. The Tories don't have a majority in parliament, so they won't win the vote for a deal. Then it falls to Boris to either do what he promises which is leave on 31st October come what May or do what is instructed by parliament, which is to seek an extension with the EU, which is pointless as all opposition parties don't want to leave the EU anyway so when the next extension time is up we will be in the same place as we are now. Plus the EU gets to decide the extension length. They could choose 10 years if they wanted!
